DirectX Error on Win7 x64
Has anyone figured out how to get around this error? My PC specs are way above the minimum requirements but when I launch this or Kane's Wrath (C&C4 works fine) I get this popup:

Please make sure you have DirectX 9.0 or higher installed. Also verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements, and that you do not have hardware acceleration disabled in the Display control panel.

I tried diabling UAC and rebooting, no luck. Tried to run as Admin, no luck. Tried to set in XP compatibility mode, no luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Well, I finally figured it out. All other solutions on the net didn't work for me but the problem is basically the game not handling the current resolution and not being able to switch to a different resolution.

I'm using EyeFinity (ATI/AMD multi-monitor surround gaming support). I have three 24" monitors in portrait mode with a resolution of 3600x1920. The game fails to detect that resolution and switch to it. The game also cannot switch to a lower full screen resolution (like 1920x1200) automatically, so it pops up that Directx error.

The workaround is to modify your launch options to add:
-xres 3600 -yres 1920
(or whatever resolution your desktop is using if you aren't using 3600x1920)

To do this in steam:
1. go to your LIBRARY of games
2. right-click on "Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
3. choose "Properties"
4. click the "SET LAUNCH OPTIONS..." button
5. type in "-xres 3600 -yres 1920" without the quotes (use your current screen resolution shown in windows if not 3600x1920)
6. Click "OK"
7. Click "CLOSE"
8. Play the game.

An alternative to step 5 is to use "-win" to play in windowed mode. That should allow any resolution. But I'd rather play in 3600x1920 full screen mode. ;)

Anyway, I wasted half a day trying to solve this problem and I hope my wasted time can help others. :)
