Tomb Raider (2013) being bad is a meme and I'd dare to say it helped in bringing more fans into the franchise. Although what they did with Rise of the Tomb Raider... Damn, that storyline was SO bad lol.
Music is phenomenal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3rgh3mVQGqM&list=PLWZZrmeUZ7se1EP83e4aVepSCXeBYP9oh&index=9
I'd be really happy if they also remastered Tomb Raider 4 and 5, but, it will still be niche. And, I don't really have much hope that this will become better. Games are dumbed down for a reason: The audience has dumbed down. If people value shiny graphics more than gameplay these days, then it says loads about them. They obviously value a shiny surface more than the content in it.
While the classics still reigned.
I just hope they understand what makes it great for OG fans and modernize it well instead of rewriting the plot and characters again and again....
It's only a matter of time until people start to realize how boring today's games and how focused it is on graphics alone, look at how terribly optimized and uninspired nowadays games, and people know that, so it's only a matter of time for companies to focus more on gameplay and story than graphics and agenda
And, take a look at some of the posts on these forums. People wonder about the point of this, and criticize that the graphics are too bad, that it's all blocky, or that the levels are too dark.
It's just a different audience these days. They care about gaphics, graphics and graphics, and not much else. They also want to play movies, where the first thing you see is a 15 minutes cut scene. They just don't care about gameplay anymore.
With the super awkward trigger warning at the beginning of the game I HIGHLY doubt they want to make fun Tomb Raider games again. Still, this remaster is phenomenal. It's just sad that we live in a world where people are borderline insane and actually think anything in this game is offensive to anyone.
Ah i am not as sure, i had a hard start geting into the first one, as it starts with Quick Time Events and Lara acting as expected for young Adult Movie Stuff.
I am half into the second one and the Games are fun.
But they are Childs of its Time and made very different.
You will have People get turned off by this as some are turned off by the Tank Controls.
What i like about the old ones more, they have their Focus on exploring the Level and overcome its puzzling Nature, being with less graphical Power very atmospheric.
The new ones are way more cinematic.
Indi Games nowadays have such a succsess because they are closer to such Games of the Past.
I guess you will having both of the Tomb Raider Lines have Fans in the Future.
