Here's some steps I would try:

You may be able to narrow down the problem by disabling components of the game and seeing if one of them is causing the issue, such as turning off sound or input. These are options you can set with Set Launch Options... (right-click on Volgarr in your Steam Library, click Properties, and then Set Launch Options...). You can even combine multiple at once (just separate each command with a space). Try options like:

You can also try forcing windowed or full screen mode with:

and you may want to try running it via a different graphics system, you can choose between OpenGL, DX9, and DX7, by using:

-graphics=1 OR
-graphics=2 OR

See http://steamcommunity.com/app/247240/discussions/0/613940109932737285/ for more details on command line options and what they do and how to use them, as well as other tips for problems getting the game to launch.

If that doesn't help, try switching to the SDL version of the game, which is the version used for Mac and Linux. It is available from the Betas tab of the game's Properties.

disabled sound and music and it runs fine 0.o Can i re-enable sound if i have speakers plugged in?

If it runs fine without sound than that means something with your sound setup is causing the crash. Usually speakers being plugged in wouldn't make a difference, unless the problem is a fancy USB or wireless headset?

You may want to try updating your Sound Card drivers or searching around online for any known issues or tweaks for your sound setup that cause crashes. Alternatively, you may want to try alternate sound systems like setting sound=2 and music=0 and then sound=2 and music=2 if that works, or using SDL version of the game I mentioned before.
