Which path is strength and which path is craft?
Can't remember which path is best to take for which best stat for the Crown of Command ending.

I think you're referring to the fork in the road from the Plain of Peril? The crypt uses Strength and the mines use Craft.

The funny thing is that in Dragon expansion, the Inner Region is replaced with a similar one, and that has these paths switched -- Dragonbone Crypt uses Craft and Dragonstone Mines Strength.

Oh really? That's confusing. And yeah I'm talking about the Plain of Peril path choices. Thank you.

There's a reason they switched them in the Dragon Realm. ;)
But too long to detail here. It's just not a typo!

OK, if you insist! I'll try my best to explain it...

In Talisman 2nd Ed., you could not trade trophies for Craft. It was easier to gain Strength, so the usual path tested only Strength (Crypt and Werewolf). The alternative path through the Mines, if your Craft was high enough, rewarded you with an easier second space (Vampire's Tower instead of Death). Since even Crafty characters tended to gain some Strength and battle weapons, the last space is a moderate battle (Pits).

The current edition of Talisman lets you trade in trophies for Craft and replaced some gold with a few new Spirits, but the rest of the cards were identical and the same principle generally applied, so the Inner Region remained the same.

As expansions were released, it became easier to gain Craft. The Dragon expansion ran away with this concept, and made gaining Strength and Craft equally possible with the way the Draconic Lord decks are designed. This is why the new Inner Regions test both Strength and Craft. The Dragon Tower forces you to fight Enemies in both battle and psychic combat, and the Dragon Realm requires you to be good in both Strength and Craft for each pathway.

The Pits were changed to psychic combat (Dragon Hatchery) and the Crypt and Mines switched requirements. This allowed the Inner Region overlay to still match the original, but forced you to either be high Craft and still good in battle, or high Strength and still good in psychic combat!

Ah that's clever and definitely makes for a much harder game. I'll have to keep that in mind when I play those expansions with people. Thanks!
