Working with WINE [Linux] [fixed!]
Has someone managed to get it running?
I've made a 32b prefix and installed dotnet45 with winetricks, which got me as far as accepting an EULA, but the game itself doesn't start at all.

I really want to play this :steamsad:

Got it working! After doing all that described before, I installed wine-stagging (1.9.1) and wine-stagging-compat and it seems to work flawlessly now :D

(Had minor issues with the screen resolution, but forcing the game to start windowed and changing to full screen afterwards solved it.)

I haven't been able to try neither of those features yet, but I've completed a level in single player and found no issues. I'll update here and post my results on WineHQ once I try both online and workshop :)

Hey! I'm glad more people got it working.
I recently tried the new Steam Beta with the Proton integration. There's a checkbox in the configuration options that allows you to try it for any windows game, even those not officially supported.
Unfortunately I couldn't get it to work stright out of the box, but maybe combining some of the steps we used in the past for the installation will allow it to then work from the linux client?

I tried installing the game with Proton too, but each time the installation of dotnet45 would get stuck somewhere at the begginning. I think the problem is that Proton try to install dotnet45 on a 64bits build, wich we already know is not possible...

Edit: So, hum, bad news...The game worked fine once, like I already said, but now it refuse to launch. I changed absolutly nothing, its just that the game will only work the first time and crash instently after that. Also, there's some problems with steamhelper, but that doesn't affect games from what I understood. And you, do you still get the game to work?
yah try to install the 32 bit version

it's been a while since I last played the game, but I never got any problem beyond the screen resolution, which was solved forcing the game to start windowed and setting the resolution from there. It was installed in a 32 bit prefix, but I think you already did that.

I have the game working in Proton, it's a bit of a pain to get running BUT it works in the 64bit Proton prefix, here's how I did it.....

1. Install the game.
2. find & remove the redist folder & anything that has dotnet in it's name, if you forget this delete the pfx folder & start again from here.
3. Use Protontricks install dotnet452 (takes about 5 minutes). at the end click restart now button. "protontricks 246900 dotnet452"
4. download the 64bit vcruntime2012.exe from here
5. use protontricks run taskmngr & use that to run the exe you downloaded. it may seem like nothing happens, just wait a few seconds then shut taskmngr & winetricks.
6. run the game BUT choose 64bit & only 64bit.
7. enjoy the game.

ps 32bit works but 64bit is more stable.

That's great news and a fantastic excuse for me to re-install it :)

Sorry for the potential necroposting, but in case you didn't already noticed the game work out of the box with the new version of proton. Also I feel like the performances got a bit better (25 FPS with a few drops on a big map, now 40 FPS stable on the same map).

Happy cleaning everyone :]

And if you install D9VK the performance is even better.
