Still bugs? Out of video memory
Hi there,

I'm experiencing an issue with starting the game. The first time I tried, I received the following error message:

"Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running. Exiting..."

Every subsequent attempt just shuts down the game immediately. I'll try again later today, but if the issue persists, I may need to request a refund.

Here are my PC specs:

Intel Core i7-13700K
MSI GeForce RTX 4080 16GB GAMING X TRIO
G.Skill Ripjaws S5 F5-5600J2834F32GX2-RS5K (2 x 32GB)
Seagate FireCuda 530 4TB M.2 SSD

My BIOS:

* Long Duration Package Power Limit (P1): 225W
* Short Duration Package Power Limit (P2): 253W
* MCE (Multi Core Enhancement) (Enhanced Turbo on MSI): Auto (default)

Undervolting settings:

* CPU Core Voltage Mode: Adaptive + Advanced Voltage Offset (V/F Point)
* V/F points 5 and higher (x43 - x54) adjusted with -0.1500V

EDIT: Copy-paste from last post:

I believe I have solved the issue by adjusting the BIOS settings to Intel CPU specs as follows:

* Long Duration Package Power Limit (P1): Reduced from 225W to 125W
* Short Duration Package Power Limit (P2): Set to 253W
* Multi-Core Enhancement (MCE) (Enhanced Turbo on MSI): Changed from Auto (default) to Disabled
* Core Current Limit: Set to 307 Amps

As a result, my Cinebench R23 score dropped by 12%, from 30,054 to 26,729.

Hi , exactly the same issue with a 4090

this is a known bug of motherboards overstimulating the 13/14K cpus, you need to install latest bios and set the Intel baseline profile

That's Intel trying to keep up with AMD on CPU gaming performance by pumping way too much power in their CPUs.
Updating the BIOS and selecting the baseline profile should fix that, at the cost of reduced performance.
Sorry but AMD was the best gaming choice for this generation.

Out of memory error is a known Intel problem, they finally admitted it last month after I had been telling people over a year since the Release of Remnant 2.

Update your bios like said or if you don't want to do that, use the intel extreme tuning utility and bump the cpu multiplier down by 2X.

Thanks a lot man , it's working now
This is my editing PC for grading footage with DaVinci Resolve. It's a bit silly to degrade my PC's performance just to play this game, especially since it's the only game giving me trouble.

I don't think the CPU is the issue because I limit the power limits and undervolt the CPU. In Cinebench R23, it remains stable at 100% for 30 minutes:

* Long Duration Package Power Limit (P1): 225W
* Short Duration Package Power Limit (P2): 253W
* MCE (Multi Core Enhancement) (Enhanced Turbo on MSI): Auto (default)

Create a shortcut from the .exe in the desktop. Worked for me.

..have out of the box overclock on consumer products ?
Yes, yes it is.

MCE is defaulting to ON, so by default you have an overclock since it is not an in-spec boosting behavior.

Note, Cinebench R23 might be stable while R15 might not since it behaves differently.
Buildzoid pointed this out in his rambling video.

As for "but it's only in THIS game", it depends, if you have other UE5 games (or for example Horizon Forbidden West, etc.) or not.
If not, then that argument is as baseless as it gets.

I'm not sure yet if this has fully resolved the issue, but initially, I encountered the same 'out of memory' error. However, on the second attempt, I was successful and could play the game at the highest settings.

The error happens because the CPU gives up during high-stress load that is shader pre-compilation during initial loading.

It caches already built shaders so folks will eventually reach the menu when they try hard enough (speaking about affected CPUs and UE5 and other games in general).
I have a 13k Intel cpu and when I first launched the game as it was pre-compiling shaders, I got this error but the game was still running. I didn't hit the close game popup, and let the shader compilation finish and did the initial setup. Closed the game and relaunched it and didn't receive the out of memory error again. The only other time I got this error in a UE5 game was Lords of the Fallen when overclocking my CPU. I am just glad the error was a minor one and the game runs decent for me.

it's just that your cpu is mildly unstable and the shader compilation worked this time. it's just luck. you need to fix your bios to have a long term stability.
