How? If I wanted realistic physics and attention to detail I'd be playing Train Sim. Thing Obsidian games are known for is the writing. The Elder Scrolls is also known for it's writing, though in it's case it tends to be more 'was this written by a three year old?'. The only one that ever really stood out beyond being a fun sandbox to play in was Morrowind, and it basically just ripped off Dune.

They are completely different experiences tbf.
One is a sandbox game the other isnt. Among many other core differences.
Also, Bethesda gave us Starfield.

It proves that YouTube is right maybe 50% of the time no matter who you watch for reviews because they are all paid to be over the top. So you’re better off flipping a coin or asking someone you know who HAS played the game at this point. Sad state of media in general.

at this point comparing beth and obs is a pointless exercise, unless it's a race to the bottom.

Avowed lets you set up camp and talk to your companions, therefore better game. :P

Did any of the people posting these videos all over now ever play Skyrim? The game was buggy as hell, and the combat was a mess. Yeah, those little interactions are fun, but what's more important is the other 98% of actual gameplay. There's a reason mods have pretty much been a requirement to enjoy Skyrim for the last decade.

This isn't damage control for Avowed, BTW, it's just pointing out this bizarre cherry picking of features that make a terribly performing Bethesda game suddenly look like a masterpiece. For years, Skyrim was looked at as the example of how NOT to release a game -- focus on small details while having broken or poor key mechanics and gameplay systems at release.

The water moves in a way Skyrim can’t and swimming physics are way better, case closed, Skyrim is poopoo and everyone should uninstall

Starfield is the first new universe in over 25 years from Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. In this next generation role-playing game set amongst the stars, create any character you want and explore with unparalleled freedom as you embark on an epic journey to answer humanity’s greatest mystery.

You sure, kid?
Didn't know it was a contest
They're both past their prime, incapable of competing with rpg's that are being released nowadays.

Obsidian is not as washed out as Bethesda, the people who are washed out is the gaming community. I get not giving this title the mantle of GOTY, but it is worthy of a top RPG slot for me this year already. Starfield was worthy of an uninstall.

Except one released Starfield with promises like "next generation RPG","next skyrim" and "10 years support" while other said "TOW, but in PoE universe".

Yeah, though obviously they spent all of their time shooting arrows into the scenery and being amazed.
