Game stutters without frame drops.
My game looks sometimes like 20 fps, but there is no fps drops. If I activate vsync, its always 60fps but it dont feels smooth at all. it looks like 20 fps... vsync off = +90 fps, but looks like 20 fps... I tried every settings. are there any fixes for that?
rig:
gtx 970 oc
i7 3820 @ 4,3 ghz

Hi, depends on what is in the world, some Mods and Scripts can lower the SimSpeed so always keep an eye on this value when testing Mods and Scripts.

SimSpeed = Your character will walk very slow and will look like "stutters".

Edit > Also complex creations can give a low SimSpeed.

>> Hit Shift+F11 one time to see the world stats on screen, like this :

Is it the same in a new created Empty world (No Mods) ?

:fix: SimSpeed = Must stay at 1.02 to 1.00

If you see this value going under 1.00 = Stop and delete the problem.

Iam new to the game and Im playing the "tutorial/singleplayer missions". So no mods added yet.
I keep an eye on the SimSpeed. The only thing I see is the 100% usage of my gpu, but still no fps drops, but it just looks like that. Especially in the first person view. Playing now with ingame vsync off and turned on in nvidia the vsync.

Restart your PC then = it should fix :fix:

You may verify the game files with Steam before loading :

How to Verify integrity of game cache:

- Right click on Space Engineers in your Steam Library.
- Go to properties.
- Go to LOCAL FILES tab.
- Click Verify integrity of game cache
- When done try the game.

It still stutters and the SimSpeed dont go under 1.0
It just feel like 40 fps sometimes, but there is no frame drop. I dont get it.
It feels smooth and every few seconds I get this stutter, just like frame drop looks/feels like. But steam + msi afterburner shows me stable 60 fps. :|
Any other idea? Drivers are all up to date. sheers

Ok so it's not a SimSpeed problem ... = :riddle:

I see a "lag/stutter" the first time I load my world, also when I teleport to another station on the Moon for example : I walk near the station and "stutters" for a bit, I'll say for the time this areas with all buildings load but it will be short and stable after.

I still use the 2017 GTX 1050 Ti Driver (never updated), I don't think it's a driver version problem but something else.

Maybe delete the content of the "Shadercache" folders in appdata SE and reload the world to add back = may help.

Make sure nothing runs in Windows when you play the game.

I have a clean system and closing everything I dont need if Im playing.
I found a reddit thread, where a few people got the same problem, but unfortunately without a fix for that..

https://www.reddit.com/r/spaceengineers/comments/9eatyl/space_engineers_stuttering/

I will reinstall my gpu driver and try a few other things tomorrow. If you have another idea what else I could try, I would appreciate.
I will also try to change the priority of SE in the taskmanager.

gtx 970 oc = means that you over clocked it?

If yes = maybe try on default.

____

I would also ask a SE programmer in a "Request for help" on the Support Portal or create a new bug report.

I just discovered a cause for this problem: a faulty USB connection. Not even to a mouse or keyboard, but any device or USB cord causing Windows to repeatedly flash the USB symbol in "hidden icons", that up arrow at the right on taskbar.
