The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection
When I start either remastered versions I get this;

The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver due to exceeding the Windows Time-Out limit and is unable to continue.

The application must close.

Error code 7

AND IT HARD LOCKS MY PC, I have to reboot

I do have SLI, I tried a reg hack but it didn't work anyone else know a way to fix it

Running a 3-way SLI running into the same problem. Stability improved greatly when I went to Manage 3d Settings under the Nvidia control panel and changed power management mode to Prefer Maximum. From what I have read on the issue is the computer wants the GPU to ramp up faster than this software ramps it up or something like that. Was able to play for about 45 mins before this happened again. Before that I could not get past the splah screen.

Same problem here. Adjusting NVIDIA settings to maximum power wont solve the problem.

It's not working.

This sucks

Mate try verifying your install, I had the same error and tried with and without SLI enabled and then actually verified and there was a 1.2gb file that failed.

I dont know if that's the fix but it's worth giving a try, good luck!

Getting this myself during gameplay sometimes after an hour, sometimes after a couple of minutes. I tried extending the timeout period as detailed here[stackoverflow.com] but that just results in the game freezing instead. I'm tweaking settings now, and I'll try verifying the install.

Same problem here with a GTX 970, latest drivers.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I'm on SLI GTX 980s, it may be a game file issue or it may be a driver issue, I'd be interested to see what other people have done to make it stop doing that.

Ahmazza, when does the error happen? Just randomly or is it during level loads?

I noticed it reliably crashed every time I was playing the second tutorial, so at the moment I'm playing it over and over with my settings turned down low, and slowly putting them up one by one to see what does it.

I should aslo mention that as a result of the first crash I updated my drivers, but that hasn't seemed to fix anything.

As for my system specs, significantly older - a single GTX 570 which is able to cope with everything fine, nice framerate and everything with everything except AA at max, the crash just seems to happen out of the blue. :(

Edit: wow... three "everythings" in the space of 8 words... eugh...

Sorry for the double post but:

I think I've got it, for me at least. If I have shadows set to Advanced the game will crash, even if all other settings are at minimum, I was just able to recreate it twice. I'm going to play a bit now with everything else turned up and shadows off to see if I can play without issue.

same problem. gtx680, latest drivers and all that.

Same problem, just random crashes. fps is good, but game just crashes with this error when you least expect it would crash. Very annoying. My keyboard soon will die, because i punch it every time game crashes lol

Latest drivers. NVidia 347.52
System:
Intel I7 3770 3.5 GHz
8GB ram
GeForce GTX 660ti 2gb

Turning OFF shadows doesnt help to solve the issue.

Same Problem here....
Latest drivers. NVidia 347.52
GeForce 980 Hydrocopper
32 GB Ram

turning shadows off helps a little bit but still crashing randomly.
