Buy this if I love RO2?
I was on PCGamer reading their list of games coming out in 2014 that they thought had potential. I saw this and instantly clicked it, thinking ''A WW1 game that isn't ♥♥♥♥ty? YES!''
I own RO2 and Rising Storm and I love them both. This game seems to be like that sorta game, but in WW1. Is this a good game, it's early access so are the bugs bad? Do the devolpers seem to care about the ggame enough to update frenquently? And also I hate to sound like a beggar, but if somebody gifts this game to me I'll be forever in your debt, I spent all my money on a GTX 770 and I have like 10 bucks on a gift card so I'm out of luck ATM. Thank you for the help in advance guys, I really do appreciate it if I decide to play this game!

There's a good chance that you'll enjoy Verdun if you like Red Orchestra 2, even though it's more "arcadey." It has the same focus on squad gameplay and is same combat-wise in that you usually die with one hit.

As it's in Early Access, there are bugs, some worse than others. However, I think it's still great fun to play. :)

The developers are very involved with the community. You can see them posting often here in response to suggestions and such. The work that they have completed already is impressive given that they're a three-man team.

Definitely keep an eye on this if you can't afford to buy it now!

As somebody who's played RO since it's mod days, I would say you would enjoy Verdun and should pick it up.

It's rough around the edges right now, but when RO was in its mod days, it was pretty rough too.... it's to be expected since it's still in Beta.

But it does have some different gameplay mechanics. Things will change over time and it's still a work in progress. The game is certainly playable, but there are a few bugs that get in the way some times.... nothing game breaking though.

In saying all of that, it is not the same style of gameplay as RO2 as there is more of a frontline feel to the combat and not easy to flank. Team work is certainly required and the weapons are just about as deadly as they are in RO.

Gas Warfare is coming to the game, and more faction types. I'm looking forward to the Canadians making it into the game soon.

As for gifting the game, sorry.... I blew all my money during the Steam Sale, one of the games I got was Verdun.

We trying to combine realistic elements with accessibility for lots of people in addition to providing plenty of historical content. Verdun is not aiming to be a combat simulator in the lines of arma, nor does it strife to mimic the cartoony battles in modern warfare.
In this beta we try to reach a balance in keeping the game immerse enough for people who enjoy realistic games (primary focus on squads, sector capture mode, slight touch of advanced weapon handling (breathing system)) while at the same time offer a the familiar and accessible controls of the fps genre (somewhat rapid movement, ammunition handling).
In addition, and this is my personal goal, is to provide a myriad of historical content. This means a variety of battles, the interactive western front map. Having visited the battlesites ourselves, including the vosges we want to give a realistic impression of those environments.
The squads are the centerpiece, with this we want to show the changes in warfare and uniforms that took place during the 4 years. Starting out with 1914 uniforms squads will transform. Not only offering a unique gameplay element but also bringing in a whole new range of historical content.
Well guys, I will most certainly be picking this up as my next game, thank you all for the help !
