Verdun
will this game ever have the quantity of players it deserve?
like 1000 players which is the normal quantity for a steam dead game

Unless the devs somehow improve the game’s longevity I doubt it. It’s an old game in all fairness, not much to be done about it. The devs are focusing their resources on Isonzo and converting Verdun and Tannenberg to Xbox Series X and PS5.

Personally I think some more improvements to the events to make them more authentic could work.

Say right now in the West to East event, it’s set in 1915, so why not change the relevant maps to have all anachronistic assets removed. The uniforms could also be set to 1915, possibly with maps locked to the squads that fought there in 1915. Artois would have Tommies, Poilus, Chasseurs, Canadians and Highlanders for example. That’s just me.
Not when the devs keep splitting the community up by releasing new games about ww1.
When this game first was released in Alpha it was always full. Usually, you were better off making your own Team, actually. As you were on that screen, other guys would spawn in before you even got sent to a map that could accommodate more Teams. Lots of voice-chat, teamwork and just a whole lot of fun.
I can't help but think that the "completion" of the game messed up a perfect recipe. Returning to Verdun I'm impressed by how far it's come, but miss what you're pining for. I grabbed Tannenberg as soon as it came out to find myself fighting against and alongside nothing but "bots" which were never necessary in Verdun from my experience.
I think a lot of cheaters/hackers may have driven off the player base. I look forward to the upcoming entry, but I have yet to see any other MMO that plays as perfectly, and simply as Verdun in it's "capture the flag" sort of depiction.
More voice-chat and actual teamwork would be a great start in re-invigorating the enthusiasm towards this timeless title.
Put on those headsets, boys! Communicate, be social, strategic and take it to the Huns. Bots, or no bots what we're missing is the Community we once had. Bring that back and our player base will thrive. Maybe even grow. :)
and i try speaking in chat but its always so quiet

so bots ruined it?

It seems that bots in all public matches may have ruined it. Personally bots are one of the main reasons I play this game. I quite like playing custom games offline. But I can appreciate that there are people who want fewer bots.
The game has never had a significant issue with cheaters or hackers, and it still doesn't. They added the bots because there weren't enough people, and it was creating a death spiral for the game where fewer and fewer people played because there were fewer and fewer people playing.

The fundamental issue is just that it's running its course, most of the longtime playerbase has moved on to other stuff and also there's a bunch of other WW1 games now

This is a good Idea
Just here to say, about freacking time this game went on sale... got Tannenburg months ago, and was waiting patiently for Verdun to go on sale to try it out
