Things Verdun never fixed
I was really into this years ago, from when it released on Steam as early to about 2 years ago. I saw the Brits get added, then the Yanks, assault squads, horrors of war, Tannenberg etc.

I also remember the things that people constantly asked for, and it's just astounding that content has continually been added without core aspects being addressed.

1. A lean feature - how can you not lean in trench warfare?
2. Character animations - the movement of other characters still jumps around, because there weren't enough view models created, i.e. people point high at the sky when shooting upwards, prone spinning, etc.
3. MG deployment - bugged like hell
4. Protruding body parts - once upon a time the camera view seemed to be in the character's chest, meaning you were often shot when you were hiding behind cover. I'm not sure this was ever really fixed given that it still happens - not as frequently but still often - which negates the importance of cover.

I could go on. But the point is that this game from the moment it was released on Steam it was all about adding content. It was released far too early as a finished product (on Artois they still had "_" showing as spaces between the names of the trench lines). Major gameplay aspects were never addressed and the idea was content should be added.

The best point of the game, IMO, was back when it was just the infantry and scout squads (Brit, French, Central). There was only mortars and gas, a couple less maps, and real quality gameplay. From that point on, gameplay seemed to be pushed to the background and all energy devoted to content development.

Maybe once the content is all out they’ll bring it all to one standard.
I like that you can't lean. But I agree the MG Deployment really needs work. I can't count how many times my gun gets inside of a sand bag and blocks the screen or I've been killed because the red indicator to plant keeps flashing on and off.. If they could fix that I would be happy. Who knows if it will ever get patched but hopefully...
Mg deployment issue is around since the beginning and if it was an easy fix they would fix it for sure, sure its annoying when you keep on getting pounded by the same guy over and over again, but it's a game feature now, since it never left the game.

The stuff I consider negative are:
1- bad trench boundaries, I don't think they play tested it enough. Or it's about their algorithm...
2- crouch spamming. The "good players" abuse this to hell.
3- skybox on the sniper sight. I still don't understand why there's a reflection when my eye is supposed to cover all of the glass where the reflection happens. Maybe it's on the other side?
4- ordering skills. Why can't I just mark where I want to use my mortar on the map? I can give orders for my squad there but why not skills?
5- hitboxes of the mesh, especially the map itself. At most of the times even if I aim for 5 minutes to hit the exact cell of the person I want to shoot at, a bullet always hits the ground or objects on the map where it shouldn't happen at all, it is annoying and it is forcing me to expose my player model more. I hate it.
6- if another player goes prone near you and somehow his player model even touches you, it completely messes up with your player model and changes your location and angle very unpredictably.
7- foliage is not forced or replaced with lods. This allows the enemy to just turn it off and reveal you even if you think you can't be seen where you are. The grass and stuff blocks your vision but not the enemy's. I hate when this happens and I don't think verdun maps are big enough to ruin a pc while rendering the foliage in the ongoing battle grounds.
8- too much cpu. The game eats way too much cpu. I don't know why, I don't know what causes this, but it really runs at 100% at 99% of the time on my pc, and even the most of the demanding games are not doing this. Sure it doesn't affect a lot of stuff, like you won't get 3 fps suddenly, but fixing this could allow players with older PCs to join too.

Sorry for the language, I am not a native speaker.
I think the fact that you consistently at random times have to recycle your rifle round in the middle of a gunfight feels like a "realistic" feature the devs put in but ends up being frustrating and trolly. Like, an enemy is charging you and the game decides to be all "oops, your rifle didn't recycle to the next round, guess you gotta do that now! Too bad so sad!"

Also reloading your gun will glitch from time to time. The reload animation will start, then it just....stops, causing you to press R again. Also the fact that any TINY movement you make in the middle of a reload STOPS the reload is BS. It feels like the programming of the game is always handicapping you.

Also, the hit detection is SUPER buggy. I will point my weapon straight at an enemy, then I hear the rifle go off, yet the game will only register his shot, ending up with me dead and him perfectly fine.

The reload time is frustratingly way too long, as is the act of putting on your gas mask, etc. I could go on.

meh i don't, just make it not spammable and it would be fine.
this game is not getting developed anymore anyways, they'll just update it for security patches and stuff. let's hope isonzo will not have those issues.

Ah yes, hit detection - I forgot that - even without echange fire. They put in a lot of effort to fix missing hit reg some years ago, but there's still a lot of shots that go missing and particularly at point blank.
