White Phosphorus
I main the USMC squad and it's obvious that Willie Pete is pretty much useless. It's basically non lethal and the smoke doesn't even last that long.

Can we either make it a little more lethal or at least make the smoke last longer?

I vote for more lethal. Like come on, it's WHITE PHOSPHORUS

on itself its actually lethal, the problem is
1) the shells are innaccurate AF
2) the fire lasts a couple of seconds
3) the fire is small, you really have to be ultra close to the landing shell to die.

...also doesnt help that on the minimap willy pete appears as arty when it really doesnt fit that role

btw, willy-pete nades when?

Honestly, had to look those up because my first reaction was "seems unlikely they had those in the 1st World War".

But, I don't work on assumption, and blimey, they did :) No.27 and No.37 Bombs. (1916 and 1917). I have read that the Americans made use of WP Grenades too but, not sure what types they used. Also discovered that the British Army had Tear Gas Bombs too (thought just the French had them).

I am guessing they were quite uncommon, as this is the first i've ever heard of them and they certainly weren't standard issue to infantry. Royal Engineers playthings no doubt. But, wowsers. Cool stuff :)

according to collectors, some ww1 french willy pete nades are still rather easy to find today. i mean, the senegalese berthier had like 30k produced and devs built a squad around it, so we could at least get a couple of willy pete nades...
(german and french also used impact nades, these could be an ok addition too)

WP is not really that lethal. Nasty burn wounds and all sorts of problems, but dying from it is not as common as one might think. You'd be more likely to die from infections resulting from the wounds.

Verdun is plagued with all sorts of balance problems. The Flamethrower, which is an extremely lethal weapon in real life (when in range) and often kills with its fumes alone (let alone the burning oil that sticks to skin and burns through flesh and bone alike) is the weakest weapon in the game. Then like you said, WP is borderline useless. Plenty of other bombardments and various small-arms are totally outclassed by others too. Not much the Devs are doing at the moment about any of it.

i vote WP shells to be more accurate. seriously, make a private match, remove the arty cooldown and just test it: WP barrages suck. especially since the area of effect is so small, its impossible to hit your target.

(also guy above is right, wex needs a buff and everyone knows that)

Obviously not as deadly as HE but it should kill with a direct hit

Either make it more deadly or make the smoke last longer.

As a german or entente trooper i fear white phosphorus more then any other type of gas or aircraft bombs or artillery as im so focus of not die'n from fire that i dont see a enemy on top of the trench wall top aiming down on to me :(

So yes white phosphorus is usefull in it will distract players from the other team.

it IS deadly. shells land 10 meters away from where you aim and the area of damage is ultra small, thats the problem
Make the smoke last longer as that is the main ability.

I only play as the USMC and I have never gotten a kill. Only assists
If there would be ranking of the most useless squads. Marines would be Top 3, imo.

tbh nah, marines have more unique styff than anzacs.

personal top 3 most useless squads:
3)anzacs, only thing unique is their pretty good revolver and running with a lewis.
2)canadians, the only unique thing they have is the ross and it doesnt even have a good loadout. also slightly overshadowed by senegalese/anzacs
1)chasseurs alpins. only unique thing is a scoped berthier, their NCO doesnt get an M16 while highlanders and jagers NCO gets smles and kars, but ofc: overshadowed by the highlanders.

highlanders would be an honorable mention, theyre pretty bland too and their unique weapon is terrible, not a single good loadout with it

weapon diversity is very relevant /s

edit: Also the list very clearly has nothing to do with anything other than what you personally enjoy playing, not the actual effectiveness of squads lol.
