New Sounds Update Feedback Round 3
We have listened to your previous feedback and made adjustments to sounds. What we changed is as followed:
  • New 3p shot tails
  • New distant shots(this improves distinguishing weapons by sound)
  • New first person shot tails + volume fixes
  • Vocal effects deleted to decrease performance impact
  • Barbed wire volume adjusted(higher)
  • Footsteps volume adjusted
  • Reload fixes (missing samples are no longer missing)
  • Ambience mix changes in volume according to feedback
  • Added birds in forest levels(they also fly away when the heat of battle becomes too much)
  • Added bush rustle sound when moving through bushes
  • Addedfall damage variation

We now are looking for another round of feedback on the upcoming sound overhaul in both Verdun and Tannenberg. You can join the testing by adding the following to your launch options: FMOD FMOD_WIP

How to add launch options: https://gyazo.com/142bc5d7db202d57b67addd377b2e167

This topic is not ment to discuss the sounds in general but only to report your feedback and bug reports. Discussions threads can be made separately. To keep things organised you can only reply with the following format:

Feedback:
+ Love the new X sounds
- Weapon X reload is too soft in volume

Bugs:
- X sound stays on after dying.

Keep in mind that the sounds are still WIP and we can adjust/change where needed.

Opentesting version to test this is no longer needed and you now only have to add the launch commands as described above.

The volumes are perfect to me now, nothing too loud or too silent, and the quality is very good. Thank You!

A question: did you register sounds for every rifle?

We recorded the sounds of the actual weapons for most of them but there are weapons which are very rare and hard to come by so we had to base those sounds on other videos and create them ourself.

Awesome job anyway! Thanks!

I actually keep FMOD always active, And I think that the sounds are very very good now.

My suggestion is to make the animations (bolting, reloading...) that fit as much as possible with the sounds. I still notice a discordance in some cases.

Another thing I noticed is that sometimes the sound there is when bolting (e.g. Lebel rifle) is different to the one there is when the soldier closes the bolting system after reloading the rifle.
Is this intentional?

P.S. Sorry for my bad English.

i love the new sounds. two i just noticed since the update i really like.

1. a soldier really huffs and puffs now after sprinting for very long. i guess he becomes "winded."

2. a shell exploding nearby which does not kill often results in a ringing sound which is not a bug...your ears "ring" for awhile.

both are excellent nice additions.

Yeah, those sounds are awesome!
I should have written this before. Thanks a lot devs for those sounds. They make a great difference at the game.
Most of the weapons are sounding great now (must highlight the MG15 nA,Ross,Berhier 1907 and Sawn off SMLE). I also liked how you added different sounds for when you bash a weapon against different surfaces. That was something I've been asking for a long time.
But I believe the grenades could have a better sound. Now they sound like the mortar shell when explodes.

I noticed that when you're on gas and put the gasmask, the soldier sounds to take a deep breath, perhaps relieved.
Grenades going off sound much like that - too loud for our ears to really register properly.

Maybe you should change a little the grenade explosion sounds. They remind me the old ugly sounds...

True. It gives a new life to Verdun.
I remembered I'd change the RSC 1917 and 18 sounds also.
