New Sound Update Feedback Round 2
We have listened to your previous feedback and made adjustments to sounds. What we changed is as followed:
  • New ambience layers added (people felt alone on the map)
  • Barbed wire volume fix (was too low)
  • Grenade pull volume fix (was too low)
  • Hitmarker sound removed
  • New reload sounds + added layers to beef it up
  • New layers to gunshots (beef up the gunshots)
  • New tail layer gunshots
  • New sounds: Fall damage + Ammo pickup + Bush/tree rustle
  • Skull crack fix
  • Vocal effects added (distance equalizing + delay)
  • Gramophone effect
  • New artillery explosions
  • Mosin reload - recharge fix
  • Overall mix changes

We now are looking for another round of feedback on the upcoming sound overhaul in both Verdun and Tannenberg. You can join the testing by adding the following to your launch options: FMOD FMOD_WIP

This topic is not ment to discuss the sounds in general but only to report your feedback and bug reports. Discussions threads can be made separately. To keep things organised you can only reply with the following format:

Feedback:
+ Love the new footsteps sounds
- Springfield reload is too soft in volume

Bugs:
- Muffled sound stays on after dying.

Keep in mind that the sounds are still WIP and we can adjust/change where needed.

+Haven't really noticed anything worth pointing out. The barbwire sound is nice and noticeable again, but could almost be made a tad louder still.

-The music played on the main menu is far too quiet. I can barely hear it.
-I lament the loss of the hit marker sound and the old headshot sound. They were both so satisfying to hear :(

I think barbed wire sound volume is still too small, I can barely hear it. (Its very danger if you didnt notice you are stucking on the wires, because each time it will cause 35% damage)
I see nothing but imrpovement. I enjoy the louder ambient artillery and the ability to hear far away voices. Good work.
+ Artillery sound and weapon sounds are better
+ barbed wire sound better => still a tiny bit too quiet
+ granade sounds when lands on the ground is now good hearable


- rain on flanders is a way too loud => cant nearly hear anything else
- enemy footsteps could be louder cause there still too quiet
- the satisfying headshot sound gone => really sad to me
- overall i had to make the sound louder cause everything was quieter than before
- picardie background mgs too loud
- ambiente sounds (overall) too loud

I have to disagree on the ambient sounds being too loud. I feel that they liven up less populated matches and make the battle feel bigger.

Thanks for all the feedback! Good to hear we made improvements based on the previous feedback. Please keep the feedback coming so we can make the sounds release ready :)

In addition to what was already said:

- The rain sounds in the main menu are too loud also.
- I dislike the fall damage sound. Breaking leg sound gets annoying if that happens multiple times a minute. Is there an option to make old sounds for minor fall damage and breaking a leg sound for severe damage?

+ Sounds are better in general. Not feeling like I'm in a cotton ball most of the time.
Feedback:

- some reload sounds are missing, e.g. the Lewis Gun ones
- the rifle shot sounds are too similar each other


+ Gas mask sounds really appreciated

+ I love the machine gun sounds and the barbed wire sounds
- Menu theme is a bit too quiet
- IMO the rifle sounds that are currently in the game sound better
- Barbed Wire sound could be a little louder.

- The Rain is a little too loud.

- First Person weapon sound feedback:
Berthier: Rough sounding during Bolting and Opening Reload

Springfield: Rough during the Bolting and Closing Reload.

M92: Rough Bolting and a little rough during the Closing Reload.

M16: A little rough during the Closing Reload and sounds rough or a little odd during the Bolting.

Lebel: A little rough during the Bolting.

Kar88: A little rough during the Bolting.

MLE: The Bolting sounds a little too soft.

RSC 1917+1918: The Clip Insert and Closing could be a tad bit louder.

BAR: On the Closing Reload, there's no sound of the bolt moving forward when chambering the first round. (There's sound when pulling the bolt back though)

Lewis: There's no sound during the Closing Reload, when the bolt is being worked.

Not sure if it's possible to smooth out the roughness of Berthier, Springfield, Mousquetons, etc. without lowering the volume of the sound overall. Just to me it's a little too sharp / rough.

- The MG's could have a little more variation between their gunshots. (e.g. Chauchats = Madsen)

-/+ I like the ambient explosions, but they may be a little too frequent. (Least during an Attrition match on Argonne - Scale it to the size of the map?)

-/+ I like the new Falling Damage sound, but I am going to have to agree that the old sound could be used for the light/minor fall damage.

(?) Is it only in Tannenberg that there's a fuse burning sound while cooking a grenade? (I only tested the F1 during my testing in Verdun)
+ sounds much higher
+ new artillery sounds are great
+ new disgusting death sounds
+ no more hit sounds (no headshot sounds anymore = no CoD feeling)
+ Lee Enfield fire sound are very very good.

- barbed wire sounds still to silence
- flandern rain sounds to high
- Lebel repeat sound have a very high disturbing sound. There is a "click" or something like that in the repeat sounds. I got 1 time headache from this (no joke)
- weapons are to silence on range (like picardie) you can listen weapons not so really on the other side of nomansland
- all LMGs have still the same sounds

All in all the new sounds are better as the old one. I appreciate it a lot if you ask the community how are the new sounds. I know developers who add new things and do not listen to community what they like or want. Thats very cool you take a look of this what the community prefer.

Seems much more detailed, I just want a bit more to the guns and the glitch fixes and I would say the update would be a huge success
