Are the devs gonna keep ignoring the Douaumont problem.
In my 2 years of playing this game, I only seen the Germans win ONCE on this map. What the hell guys. I never seen a more one sided map in a multiplayer before.

it is still the most one sided maps, even though devs made a few changes to make the fort easier to defend.

i tried to give an explanation of why i think douaumont is so unbalanced by describing the problem of what i call ''the hallway of death'' which can completely block germany's entry to the fort if they are unlucky enough to spawn to their left.

i like the concept and how it changes from just having trenches, but i hate how unbalanced it is

When was the last time you played on Douaumont? Today I was playing on Entente side and we did not succeed in getting them out of the fort. At the end the result was 4:4 and the whole match took place inside the fort.
It seemed very balanced and was actually fun to play.

I know it was a mess in the past. But they changed and still change a lot. It looks like the Germans can now enter their far left more easily by various factors (spawn, cover,..).

The interior of the tunnel has also changed a lot.

not sure what the interior of the tunnel has changed: i can still camp with my chauchat and hold it for 10 minutes alone.

i know the fort has been made easier to defend (and im happy about that) but to me this hallway still is a problem, as ive seen my entire team spawn in it and not be able to gain even a couple meters for the entire time the attack lasted

The problem with Douaumont is not that it's hard to defend (althout it is). The problem is that it's impossible to RETAKE after the Entente gets it.

A few small changes could fix the map: extend the capture zone so that it covers the whole inside of the fort (that left part where Germans spawn when attacking), and, maybe, extend the capture zone on the right tunnel entrance so that it covers that clearance around the entrance. This would make the Entente have to adopt a more proactive instantce and make it easier to the germans to retake the fort. (I'm using "left" and "right" from the German perspective)

As things are now, the Entente just have to sit behind the sangbags on the right or the barricade on the left and there is no way to flank those positions or sneak upon then. I love this game but this map is a f***ing joke as it stands today.
It has been lamented that the entrances to the fort are historically accurate but limited, so the devs are loathe to change it seems. They closed off a few Entente entry points, but the Germans still struggle to enter themselves just to keep a foothold. It has been suggested numerous times that actual changes to the map terrain aren't necessary so much as rezoning the actual objective; including the German left tunnel would allow the Germans to funnel into the foothold better, more so than the hallway chokepoint that isn't even part of the capture zone yet.
The Germans can win back the fort, if the Entente team is not very good. Best bet unless you really want a challenge is just play as Entente. Sometimes I will still play as Germans on fort just to have fun but if the Entente is even half-way decent it is going to be one sided.

The problem with Douaumont is not that it's hard to defend (althout it is). The problem is that it's impossible to RETAKE after the Entente gets it.
