Jumpshooting and increasing the height of Verdun's skill ceiling.
We should all know by now that Verdun is an arcade game with a realistic setting. Central to its uniqueness is jumpshooting, which requires a lot of skill and anyone who doesn't like it just isn't good at it - it's that simple.

But I've been thinking about how Verdun is an arcade game, and how jump shooting is the highest point of the skill ceiling. As everybody should know by now. And I think that we should add some high-skilled countermeasure for jumpshooting since it isn't fair that one ability should totally exceed all others without itself being open to being countered. Plus it increases the skill ceiling if we have something else to do.

I call it jumpdodging. If you hit the space bar twice and hit crouch at the same time as well as holding a directional movement down, you jump diagonally and upwards very quickly - almost like gliding. Pressing all those keys at the same, as well as making sure there's no physical object blocking your path, will be very difficult to do. But it can get you out of a tight spot and if done quick enough will counter a jumpshooter.

And the difficulty of being able to jumpdodge justifies its place in the game, because anyone who doesn't like it just isn't able to do it and because Verdun is an arcade game.

Kind of useless, when jumpshooting its always up to who will shoot first, and generally someone with great reflexes can try to jump to the side and counter the jumpshot.
Countering the jumpshot with jumpshot would just be faster.

Yes but jump dodge is harder, and therefore higher skilled. I don't think you'd be able to do it and that's why you don't like it.

I'll take more effective alternative, there is no point in wasting time learning something that has an easier and better alternative
Counter to jumpshot is to be able to snap a shot off and kill the jumpshooter as soon as he flies into view, before he even shoots. That's the next level of skill above jumpshooting and some of us are there already so don't say it's unreasonable.

good point and I would add that is easy to spot a jumpshooter as they are bunny hopping in the trenches most of the time

All these immersion guys show up late to the party, than complain and rant about those who have been at the party for the longest and are enjoying it to its fullest

Locked because thread is clearly just intended to bait people into starting a flame war and very unlikely to lead to any sort of proper discussion.
