Yep, cars being applied forcefully to my face are a big reason why I like to have Boiling Veins before I reach area 5. If I'm lucky enough to get it before I even reach area 3, then it makes my time in that area SOOOOO much easier, as I don't have to worry so much about the annoying flame walls, the salamanders become a joke, and I no longer have to dread the possibility of getting killed by an exploding car as I'm sucked into a portal. :D
Eh, almost. I've beaten him without it. Poor guy is so easy to kill, as soon as I enter 5_3 he's usually dead in seconds as he tries to plop down on top of me and I proceed unloading a horrid amount of shells, explosives or lasers into his face. They should give him some more health... at LEAST enough for him to survive ascending and then descending twice, because as it is if you just pump him full of whatever you've got as soon as he touches down, he's twirling around cursing your name before he explodes in no time flat.
i've heard during one of the streams that its likely boiling veins will be nerfed as its quite op as it currently stands (quote)... maybe you may take just 1 dmg from explosions (wot i think)...
i had an idea the other day which goes something like :
boiling veins - negates all damage from explosions/fire but ______
_____ has a few options
1. u cant shoot for around 3 seconds if youre caught in an explosion
2. take more dmg from bullets
3. reduces rate of fire with semi automatic weapons (a pretty bad idea... but just a thought)
or
boiling veins - explosions/fire do half the damage and you get something like a ring of fire around you which does a decent bit of damage and has a chance to block bullets! (pretty op now that i think about it :P )

Just don't nerf it too much
I hope they don't make it so that explosions only deal 1 damage with boiling veins for a couple of reasons. One is that explosions hit you more than once, so even if explosions deal '1' damage, you'll still be taking about 3 or so from each explosion. I guess it'd still be useful, but it wouldn't be that great.
But what really bugs me about that is that it would make the mutation useless for Melting. Currently, boiling veins is a good mutation to have if you can't get rhino skin, because you're completely free to be hit by explosions. With the other characters, losing half your HP is a big deal. But, having 1HP with Melting isn't really any worse than having 2, because very few things in the game deal only one damage.
If there was an anti-Assassin mutation, lots of people would take it too.
Anything that prevents the most common one hit death occurance is golden in my books.
