It took years to get a real patch 99, but we got one. I'm not sure if all the bugs have been fixed (like that Crown of Guns one for the Golden Nuke Launcher) but it got made and was released.
So while it might take another year or two before we get 60 FPS, there's still a decent chance it'll happen.
Until then, don't be afraid to play the beta. You'll need to move your music files around if you were using custom music, but 60 FPS makes such a huge difference, it's well worth it.
This game is infamous for only receiving updates once every 4 years or so.
I guess they figured that people who really need 60 FPS are going to opt into the beta.
Notable additions to the 2023 beta that's not in the 2021 version includes custom FPS, widescreen, rad attraction options under game mechanics and your steam avatar+name on menus.
Though atm the very latest 2023 branch seems to be really buggy, may need to wait a few days for a hopeful quick patch.
Edit: okay there is a quickpatch. Yeah 2023 beta is the best version to be using rn.
