Fix of a blocking issue after mission 1
Hey everyone,

Some of you are encountering an issue blocking your progression after the first mission. The bug prevents you from seeing the waypoint to start the second mission.

Despite all our efforts, we've not been able to reproduce this bug to fix it. But we have an alternative solution if you encounter it.

  • In your Steam library, right-click on "Styx: Master of Shadows" and select "Properties"
  • In the "Betas" tab, enter the code "rOmoS4FTQaLIB9T" in the "Enter beta access code to unlock private beta" field
  • Change beta program to "test" one
  • Restart Steam. Styx: Master of Shadows will be updated.
  • Start the game and check in the Press start menu that game version is 1.03
  • Load the save data in which you are stuck, open the in-game menu and select the option "Start next mission".

It should teleport you to the next mission. You can now finish the game without the help of this option.

when i enter the 3rd mission games crash and tell there s a problem

Hi,I've a problem with the game!
When i launch the game my screen does totally black and i can't see even the beginning of the game..

It did nothing. Absolutely nothing.

The way you make it sounds like you just have to do that and boom, you can load your saved game and it'll be fixed.

Do I seriously have to start all over again?

And just how offten does this glitch happen?

can't reproduce the glitch? I am running into this problem of not being able to leave the hideout after replaying mission 1 which took me a long time, as this is my first time playing a stealth based game, and I was pretty proud of the fact that I 100% the first level. I don't want to continue playing this game anymore, because frankly, I'm sick of the first %%%%%%% level now! Fix your product. Can't reproduce the glitch my butt. I can see tons of people reporting the same problem. I only wish I knew before I bought your game that you don't care about the quality.

I'd like to add that I didn't encounter this problem until after the Architect level, when you first meet the elf who helps you. I went back to previous levels to get the last insignia I missed in several of them and now it shows the map marker at the Ambassador, but I can not start the new mission. I'll use the workaround you provided, but to let you know it doesn't just start at the end of level 1.

I'm frankly a bit apalled at the comments here that try to shame the developers for not fixing this bug. A lot of bugs in development are very hard to reproduce. Developers do care and want to produce a quality experience for the user. Its part pride and part wanting to do the "right thing." The issue here is that the developers can spend a lot of time on fixing this bug or they can work on adding new content and creating a new game. For a bug like this, its a very difficult decision to avoid placing multiple team members on this considering that they can create new content for us or fix other high severity/high frequency bugs.

That said, I was just able to reproduce this bug. I have only reproduced it one time.

Setup:
Version 1.02: Styx Master of Shadows, whatever is the latest release build number available on 1/12

Steps that led to the bug. Note that this is not a minimum set of steps:
  1. Start new game
  2. Complete first mission and get to hideout. Complete the dialog, pick up the available items.
    [**] Do not complete any bonus objectives (not sure if necessary)
  3. Save game, exit
  4. Start executable
  5. Load game
  6. Replay the first mission
  7. Complete the first mission and finish with 3 objectives completed: steal the relic, under 18 minutes, no kills/pacifist
  8. Bug: Enter hideout once again and the only two objectives are Oznan and the hideout when not in the hideout local area. Once entering, the Oznan objective still displays.

Netheos, let me know if you'd like the save file, or if your development team considers this a problem worth fixing if you have repro steps. I can try this again on my system.

EDIT 1:

The following steps are a modification of the above steps. This did not lead to reproduction of the bug:
  1. Start new game
  2. Complete the first mission and finish with 3 objectives completed: steal the relic, under 18 minutes, no kills/pacifist and get to hideout. Complete the dialog, pick up the available items.
  3. Replay the first mission and finish with 3 objectives completed: steal the relic, under 18 minutes, no kills/pacifist
  4. Enter hideout once again. The "start mission" objective displays as expected.
