Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag

Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag

THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED TO BUY (DLC confusion)
Ubisoft divides the steam community, when it comes to this game, into 2 regions: Players who live in North or South America, and players who live on all other continents.

The Americas region has a product called Gold Edition, which is a combination of Deluxe Edition and Season Pass and also includes all other pieces of DLC except the timesaver packs mentioned below. There is some confusion because after buying the Gold edition, you'll still be able to buy the individual packs and it wont say you already own them, BUT if you right click the AC Black Flag game shortcut in your steam library, then properties, then DLC tab, you'll see the DLC you own listed there.

For all non-North/South American players across the world, here is a breakdown of the DLC available to you:

Deluxe edition includes:

- Captain Kenway's Legacy pack (golden scimitars & MP treasure hunter costume)

- Aveline Pack: 60 minutes of additional gameplay featuring Aveline de Grandpré from Assassin's Creed III Liberation; Aveline ship figurehead.

- exclusive treasure chests at Florida, Crook Island, Andreas Island & Cayo Island

***Please note that the official steam description of the Deluxe Edition giving you the content of the Illustrious Pirates pack, i.e. missions and items on sacrifice island, mystery island and black island is MISLEADING AND FALSE. You only get these with the Season pass***

Season Pass includes:

- Kraken ship pack (figurehead, sails, wheel)

- Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry game (play as Adewale - 3 to 4 hour campaign)

- Deathvessel pack (customize the look of the Jackdaw with a new set consisting of figurehead, sails and wheel)

- Crusader & Florentine pack (Ezio figurehead, sails, sword, Altair figurehead, sails, sword)

- Blackbeard's Wrath pack (3 MP characters - Jaguar, Blackbeard, Orchid)

- Guild of Rogues (3 MP characters - Power Monkey, Shaman, Mermaid)

- Illustrious Pirates pack, which includes the following:

-> The Trove of Mystery Pack: Iron Wheel & Astrolabe Relic
-> Pirates Bounty Pack: German Rapiers & Compass Relic
-> Sacrificed Secrets Pack: treasure-hunting mission on Sacrifice Island; Captain Drake's Dual Swords and Pistols, Picture, Title, and Relics
-> Hidden Mystery Pack: treasure-hunting mission on Mystery Island; Stede Bonnet's Ship, Costumes and other MP items
-> Black Island Pack: treasure-hunting mission on Black Island; Black Ship and Captain Morgan's Silver Flintlock Pistols, Costume, Picture, and Title

***Please note that even if you buy the season pass on steam and it shows up in your game's DLC tab, you get NOTHING activated unless you right click the game shortcut, click on CD-Key, copy the season pass key to your clipboard, then on UPlay click activate a product and paste the code.

Then the next time you start the game, all the stuff will get activated.***

=======================

The following packs are meant for cheaters / people who dont have much time and want to get most out of the game:

time saver resources: increase ship cargo limit and get additional resources

time saver collectibles: reveal location of all collectibles on map

time saver activities: reveal location of all activity locations on map

time saver technology: no longer need to find the 18 upgrade plans to buy the ship upgrades

INSTALLATION GUIDE:

so the best deal if you want everything (in Europe at least) except the "cheat" packs is buying the Deluxe version + season pass

1. Install the game through Steam, this will also install the dlc included with the deluxe version and the season pass

2. run the game, then activate ACIV deluxe ON UPLAY with the key provided (right click -> properties -> product keys)

3. exit the game, and again ON UPLAY activate the Season Pass with the other key provided

this unlocked everything available for the game (except the "cheat" packs") for me

Thanks OP for the instructions ;D

I just bought the Deluxe Edition and Season Pack and according to what I see in the DLC tab of the Properties UI for the game, it says the Crusader & Florentine Pack (SP), Death Vessel Pack (SP), Guild of Rogues (SP) and Illustrious Pirates Pack (SP) are already included and installed.

Odd thing is the DLC tab on the Store Page isn't telling me they are already purchased.

huh. thats interesting. because the store description is then misleading. i'll update soon

so............ gold edition the way to go? i live in brasil and i have this gold edition to buy, nice price with the 75%

Yes. it is interesting. It also tells me that Freedom Cry (SP) is included, but not installed. The Store Page is telling me I haven't purchased that either though.

Only thing that I haven't got according to the DLC tab on the Properties UI is any of the Time Saver DLCs and Blackbeard's Wrath.

I think Gold Edition includes all DLCs, except Time Savers

@REMi
Yes indeed it does ! GOLD includes all DLC, except the time saver packs.
They are not listed in the DLC tab, yes, BUT they are in game.
They are included in the Season Pass for the GOLD Version.
(Also see description of the SP : includes new Multiplayer content. This is the Blackbeards Wrath etc.)
As I bought the game a while back I double and triple checked too, I even found a thread in the official Ubi forums which confirmed it. Sadly I cannot find it again now.
But see here, same Problem came up a while ago :

For comparison, this is a pic of my DLC tab :

Yeah thx for info, I read what you posted in the other thread. 2 DLCs doesn't show in my DLC tab and Store page: Guild of Rogues and MP Character Pack, but I think it's included in-game like you said.

PS: I bought the Gold edition and all the Time Saver DLCs

Just check my DLC tab in the picture above, when it looks like that, (minus the time saver) you have everything :-)

I'm confused - I haven't bought any part of the game and I want to get the best combination for single player and value. There's no gold edition on Steam, so do I just buy Digital Deluxe? Or the Season Pass as well?

Same for me

You need to buy deluxe + SP if you want almost all pieces of dlc except the "time saver" and 1 or 2 MP ones. The gold edition is only available in north america :/

I agree.. just purchased the deluxe edition plus Season Pass and my DLC tab says i have all DLC's except Blackbeard's Wrath and the Timesavers.

The store page states that i have only the Crusader & Florentine pack and the Deathvessel pack ... it allows me to purchase all other DLC's without a warning that i already have them in my library.

Thanks!

Just started AC3 but I doubt I'll get Black Flag for much cheaper than £10, so good times. :)

Again guys : Blackbeards Wrath IS included in the Season Pass.
Its just not listed in the DLC tab. Check my post above.

I have dug around a little, and it looks like the Season Pass contains everything listed under "Downloadable Content For This Game", except for the four Time Saver packs. The Digital Deluxe Edition seems to contain the "Illustrious Pirates Pack" (Black island, Mystery Island and Sacrifice Island), but nothing else (what more it has is exclusive to it and not available elsewhere). Please note that I am not sure of this, I have started out by looking for an image of the season pass content description.
