Testers needed for Linux build.
Since a few people have requested it, I've made a build of this game for Linux. I don't have a gaming-capable Linux system, so I'd appreciate getting some feedback from anyone who's interested. To get it, just hop on the Test branch for this game: go to the game properties in Steam, select the 'betas' tab and input the password:

'nakedmaninapot'

You should now be able to select the test branch. I want to know: does it boot at all for you? Are there graphical or sound problems? Did it crash? Did you have to do something weird to get it to work? If it's really busted, I guess I'll have to go buy a secondary drive and put linux on it.

Once everything's looking good, I'll set it live on the main branch. I appreciate your help, Linux fans!

Note: for technical reasons, the game's regular reward screen can't appear in the Linux build. Sorry folks, I rely on third-party code for browser support and Linux is not currently supported.

/edit - this is live on the main branch now. Let me know if there are problems, I can always roll back

I've activated the testing branch and installed the game (>500MB), but it complaints about no exectuable on start.

*edit*
Okay it seems you've configured the depot wrong. It wants to start an exe file, instead of the `GettingOverIt.x86_64` which is actually in the folder. Starting the game from the folder works.

*edit2*
So far the game works fine for me, audio, video, controls everything seems to work as expected. However, I never played the game before, so I have nothing to compare.

I'm getting the same thing as NoXPhasma, but launching the game from "~/.steam/steamapps/common/Getting Over It/GettingOverIt.x86_64" (which is /home/*username*/.steam/steamapps/common/Getting Over It/GettingOverIt.x86_64, if you're unfamiliar with linux shortcuts) works fine.

Looks like it's a simple naming issue. Either launching the binary directly, or symlinking "~/.steam/steamapps/common/Getting Over It/GettingOverIt.x86_64" to "~/.steam/steamapps/common/Getting Over It/GettingOverIt.exe" makes it work without issue.

Ok thanks guys, looks like I misconfigured the depot. Fixing that now.
bennett  [developer] Aug 11, 2018 @ 1:52pm
Alright, that should be fixed
NoXPhasma Aug 11, 2018 @ 1:55pm
Yep, it's fixed, starts without a problem from the library now. I've played it for 10 minutes so far and I couldn't find any issue. The game is hard as f*** though :D

Thanks for testing it! :)

Sound and graphics worked fine here. Did not crash either, at least not before I quit in frustration five minutes after beginning.

Thanks for getting around to this Bennett!

Ditto to the others, Everything seems to work fine for me running Ubuntu 18.04, Mesa 18.3.0 on an AMD Vega 64.

You could use Electron instead as your browser plugin.

https://electronjs.org/

It allows use of a Widevine CDM module for the end screen, so long as you provide the Widevine .so files.

https://electronjs.org/docs/tutorial/using-widevine-cdm-plugin

Edit: All looks good for launching the game and playing it, but Devil's Chimney has the "lights" (the literal ones) rendering incorrectly on Nvidia driver 384.111 on Ubuntu 16.04. Maybe it's a material the OpenGL renderer doesn't like.

Make sure to give this guy named "Wendell" from Level1Techs a shout. He could get MANY more testers for you.
