EWS Class 37 Error

Hi all

I'm having an error using the EWS 37 with HAAs. I think it came with the Settle & Carlisle route but I can't seem to use it on any route, incuding the S&C scenarios which use it. It happens with and without snowploughs. Each time I try to use it, I get an error msg appear saying: An error occurred trying to load the Quick Drive Scenario".

Unfortunately the DLC "Fowey Poney" also uses it which means I can't run the DLC. This comes up with the message "consist error - 37 406 EWS AP"

I've done a complete re-install of TS twice to no avail. Everything else works perfectly.

Has anyone else experienced this and how have you resolved it?

AP stands for Armstrong Powerhouse the makers of the Wherry Lines Pack.

I had an extraordinary issue installing Wherry Lines which I posted here in this forum. I never finished the thread because I never properly concluded the real problem but there may be some help in that thread.

In case you don't know. Many 3rd party addons need to be installed again after any full TS re-install.

I've just checked and it seems the class Wherry Lines Class 37 liveries don't have a 37 406 but do have a 37 405.

It propably isn't a Wherry Lines problem after all.

Do you have this folder in your Steam RailWorks installation?

If not you may be missing this AP Class 37 reskin although I'm still trying to find where it came from initially.

Well.

It appears the skins are from the Settle Carlisle but I don't know why they have AP in the name. Someone better than me can probably tell you :-)

Thanks for that. Hmm...I don't have 37 406 in my locos list. Is it definitely with the Settle Carlisle pack? Maybe I'll try reinstalling it.

I know when you use the EWS 37 and 10 HAA Hoppers in QD it fails, there are two consist fragments amongst all the others in the SettleCarlisle Preload dir, one is called 10 HAA Hoppers Fragment which works fine, the other is called 10 HAA Wagons Fragment that gives the error (the QD for the EWS 37 and 10 HAA Hoppers is trying to access the faulty HAA Wagons consist) If you extract the xml file from the bin file for the Wagons Fragment it is unfinished, very little is written in it. (the HAA hoppers and wagons are referring to the same thing)

I did a fix for this a few years ago which will correct the QD for the EWS 37 and 10 HAA Hoppers.
The same fix also corrects the non working SettleCarlisle QD for the "LMS Fowler 4F - Preserved + 5 Mk1's" that came with SettleCarlisle, not the standalone F4 addon.

Thanks Axe :) . The fix i mention above will fix the QD's ok but the other problem that the OP is having with "The Fowey Pony" scenario not working is totally seperate from the QD problem.

As Terry has mentioned above the missing EWS-406_AP livery is an Armstrong Powerhouse livery. Bit of an error on the scenario Fowey Pony creators part as he doesnt mention you need any AP liveries. He probably thought he was using a default SetCar 37 livery.

The needed EWS-406_AP livery is actually in the "Extra Stock" file for the Armstrong Powerhouse Class 31 Soundpack Pro. The "Extra Stock" file will probably work without the need to buy the Class 31 soundpack (the extra stock EWS-37_AP will install into the SettleCarlisle assets, note there are other liveries included which will install into other dirs as well).

I do love the AP soundpacks though, well worth buying.

You can download the extra stock file from this AP page and give it a try. Its a .exe file once you unzip it.

Edit - After installation you may still find the "DRIVE" button unlit, so run Fowey Pony scenario from the normal std scenario list for China Clay, i have had many WS scenarios in the past that i have had to run this way. Think every WS Flying Scotsman scenarios ive used had to be run from the normal scenario list, Drive button in WS tab was never lit, no idea why though :)

Just tried the Fowey Pony and with just the class 31 extra stock file installed the EWS 37406 loads ok to run scenario but its EWS skin is missing. If you install the AP Class 31 Soundpack first (which you have to buy) then install the Class 31 extra stock the EWS 37406 loads ok with its skin then.

There are 23 files in the 37406 texture dir when only installing the extra stock file
There are 27 files in the 37406 texture dir when installing the AP Class 31 soundpack then the extra stock file.

Maybe you can copy over some texture files from the default 37 if you dont want to buy the Class 31 soundpack? Thats beyond me though.

Here is a pic of the EWS 37406 after i installed both the 31 Soundpack and the extra stock file into my own TS, so it does work in the Fowey Pony scenario (eventually) -

At least weve got to the bottom of it, so will save the OP keep reinstalling TS, as no amount of reinstalling TS is going to fix the QD's or the Fowey Pony scenario.
