[linux] microphone not working

I just bought this game because of linux, but i cant get my mic to work. Seems like cs choose wrong soundcard for input. Where i can change it?

Are you able to broadcast in any other games under linux?

Yeah, i can test mic even in steam settings(not cs settings) if i choose correct device.

I remember that in order to get it to work I had to make sure the proper device and codec were set for the OS itself, and the games would recognize them just fine. Of course I haven't tested voice under CS:S yet, though TF2 seems to work. It's possible that it might be a bug with the game and your audio device. What are you using?

Go to the Steam settings and click the Voice tab. Change the Recording device to whatever you use (like changing PulseAudio to ALSA).

So um, I'd like to say that I am having this issue as well. I'm using a Turtle Beach Earforce P11 headset. I can test the mic using the main steam voice settings, but in CS there's no dice. I've tried all of the different devices in-game, but none of them work. I have a feeling there's an unresolved issue with the game.

I have the same issue, in steam I can do test and hear myself, and sometimes before I start playing it works in the game test in options->voice but when I'm in an actual game nothing, even when I try using the transmit key. All servers tested on have sv_voiceenable set to 1. Also tried various sound devices in steam->settings->voice->change device still no go. Hard to coordinate strategies with no communication.

Just in case, for many cases (the ones around Source games, when voice works on steam, works in the game, and not in server) seems the cause is found: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues/33 so let's pray stream can/will fix it for us.
