What configuration for dedicated serveur
Hi everyone I have a little question here I think I will host my own ARK server for one or two and I wonder with which configuration to run the server properly knowing that I think I will host 4/5 maps at a time

I was thinking of going with this for the moment:
Intel i7-6700k
RAM 64 GB DDR4
480 SSD

or
Intel Xeon-E3 1230v6 - 4 c / 8 t - 3.5 GHz / 3.9 GHz
with 32 GB DDR4

try 1 map. ddr4 is your bottleneck

It goes like this, you need 8GB Mem for the operating system. Each ark map bank on using 12GB Mem with moderate MOD use and 4-5 players. I have one map currently consuming 16GB Also consider a 1TB nvme as essential with a 2TB very recommended and yes the DDR4 would benefit from DDR5BUT i have 2 servers running, One is a beast, can run 10 maps easily on a Ryzen7 good MOBO DDR5 3x NVME drives 1TB 2X2TB. The other server is my old gaming Rig an 15 5800 48GB DDR4 2TB NVME tHIS SERVER can run 4 maps and there are no lags nor spikes either so ... This should give you an idea of what you CAN get away with.
I started with laptop and dual core ark servers and whilst they were not ideal it depends what you are prepared to put up with. If you host for friends and open up the map then i suggest they would be less than impressed with this lower arrangement.

I think you are good to go with DDR4, DDR5 is better. Think what Crow meant if ya had to upgrade somethingon your proposed rig then DDR5 would be it. i would argy though a 480 SSD is to small a drive.
Amount of RAM is WAY more important than having DDR5 as opposed to DDR4...

Bit of a troll response saying DDR4 is the bottleneck.

Figure for ASA 12-18gig per map depending on mods ASA also can use up to 4 cores. You can do two maps in 64gig of space, three would start to push it as player numbers or mods climb.

I see thanks for all your advice, as said it is a server for 2 players and some mods nothing extra, i stay on 480go see 1To of storage because i have a nas for backup and saves

Yeah the 64GB one should be completely fine. My servers use 12GB at RAM at max; so just keep that in mind. With more mods and more players you might end up using more. I have 64GB RAM in my server with a Ryzen 9 5900x and 2TB NVME SSD and only have slight issues when i have all of the official maps running. I think The Center is causing issues; might be because the dedicated server software isn't that great, despite multiple patches since launch.

I plan on upgrading to 128GB RAM soon; i imagine Ragnarok and other large maps (Gen2) will take up around 18GB+.

Soo thanks for all your feed back. I created a server to test different things and my friend and I have in the list of servers our server which appears me the host server I join easily but my friend does "time out" do you have any idea

So you would be connecting locally as you are on the same network. No problems. Your friend needs internet connectivity. Check your port for the server is it passed through the firewall when you created the server you should gave seen a pop up either on win10 or win11 to allow it through a server 2016 or 2019 you will not get this. You have to make a rule. Is the port forwarded in your router for the server map. You need a fixed IP on the server to make things simpler and easier. So to do this make a rule for UDP. Mention the fixed IP of the server and forward the internal port of the server to the same port for the router. I have seen that some ISP routers don`t do this EVEN when you make a rule and it looks good. I myself had to buy my own router instead of the ISP`s to get mine to work

I have find the problem just a problem of port 😋

Go to Battlemetrics.com and search for the name you named your server . If it`s there then thats a start but it still needs the port for connection. If you left things as default then that should be 7777
