Dead State 2? Expansion?
It's looking like I'm nearing the end of Dead state, and I'm anticipating withdrawal symptoms once I get there. What are the chances of an expansion or sequel? I've read some posts theorising that the game hasn't sold well, which if true is a shame. I'd love to see more. It's the first game I've gotten really stuck into in a couple of years. (I'm very picky with games).

While it did make a profit, it didn't sell well enough to justify a sequel or an expansion. However if it sells well over the long run and becomes a cult classic, perhaps the devs will reconsider sometime in the future.

Thats a shame, it sold poorly because the game was a buggy and unfinished mess at launch, but it is a GREAT game and have the potential to become a cult in the genre, if only it was like REANIMATED at Day 1... :( anyway i think it deserve a sequel in the long run.

Project Lead here - glad you enjoyed the game! Unfortunately, right now we have no plans to do a Dead State 2. If you did like the game, be sure to let other people know about it. The Reanimated update didn't get much in the way of press, so to a degree we rely on positive reviews and recommendations to get the word out. If at some point it becomes more of a word-of-mouth cult hit, we are likely to do something similar as a future project. Sales and demand really do shape the kinds of games we make.

That said, DoubleBear is currently hard at work on our second game and we're looking forward to showing that off soon, so keep an eye out for the announcement.

I'd certainly like to see a sequel or expansion; there's a lot of potential here.

I would like to see a DS2, but please learn by mistakes. Do less but deliver more quality, then support with purchasable DLC's that way everybody wins!

...also it is nice to see the developer responding. I feel the game had faults BUT i still thank him and the team for developing a game i really did like.

No just no.

C'Thun, why no? If they had released a smaller but polished game, then spent more time on expanding it with good quality additions surely they would have got better reviews, sold more, then we would all be looking at a DS2, rather than 'that's all folks' ....btw i don't like all the pointless dlc's either, but it can make sense for a small developer. I object to dlcs by big companies that are often just for extra money.
So in effect, no just no, is me as well for alot of the dross that is released. however it can have its place if used sensibly.

Um ... I can answer that ...
Because the game was released in an unstable, unplayable, buggy state during the Xmas rush, in one of the most obvious cash-grabs in history. After that, the "polished" Dead State ReAnimated version was almost as bad and unstable as the original release, just with more buggy content.

I think that's reason enough for "No. Just No."

i don't think a game that the probably the average gamer may or may not have heard of can be considered one of the most obvious cash grabs in history, but that's just me. lol

I don't think you're giving this game's history or the dev teams enough credit, on this point. I'll certainly agree with you the "everage" player might not be aware of this production, but it certainly has a cult following, and when it all went down, there was certainly a decent-sized community throwing BS flags, left and right.

i was saying no to the whole idea for supporting devs making small dlc that we have to pay for. But yeah that works to.

Imo reanimated works pretty well and the game is ok to play through every now and again. However i dont really see too much reason to replay more than once. Game was fun though.
