Who is this? And why is he with me, taking all my potential kills?

I have a dude with me in act 2. He's as powerful as me. And he follows me like a pet in Torchlight 2, and does a lot of killing. Is this depriving me of EXP? And where the heck did this guy come from? I took a steam vid, but I don't know how to post it. Maybe he's an affix on one of my items, I dunno. I really can't complain, because he's kicking as much a$$ as I am. But I wonder if I'm getting EXP and Fame from his kills. He's a purple-garbed wizard dude, and I don't know where the heck he came from.

sounds like einhar. he is appearing if you attacking beasts in that area. beasts have an yellow or red skull on the mini map

Are you talking about Einhar the Beastmaster. He's not taking kills from you he's actually helping you. To find out his deal you have to talk to him in the forest encampment he's located in front of Eramir up against the wall to the left of the portal.

no, but there are no other NPC who is purple and doing dmg and following your around and start to appear in act 2

Thank you. It is Einhar, after all. I haven't played since Delve was new, so it's an entirely new experience. I'm like "Who the heck is this, and why's he bird-doggin' my quarry?" You can't click on him, he doesn't appear in a menu. He's just there.

einhar comes from bestiary league which came 2 leagues before delve :o

So, why is he there, and why does he appear and just start killing stuff? I'm not complaining, I'm just hoping I'm getting experience from his kills. And I only started playing PoE when Delve was new, so I don't have a clue about previous iterations.

I'll check next time I see him. I'm usually too focused on what I'm doing to see the details of companions' fighting styles. And yeah, I think he's purple, but that could be an aura or something. I just remember purple in my peripheral vision. All I know is he kills lots of mobs that I don't get to kill, subsequently, and that I didn't do anything (that I recall) to summon him.

Basically, I can just stand still, and he'll kill everything on the screen.

I don't know what to think about this.

Einhar shows up because theres Bestiary monsters in that area - theyre basically mini-bosses (or in some cases even stronger than endgame bosses...) with special modifiers.
Einhar will collect them once you kill them, and take them to his menagerie.

At the menagerie you can sacrifice them to the old gods in various recipes that all require you to kill them again for rewards.
This was all explained when you first MET einhar though, did you ignore the NPCs with the glowing orange ! mark?

Thought I was just killing stuff. Though I do like the lore of the new build.

I'm jealous of Einhars weapon, it did far more damage than I could ever do in Act 2.

I think I beat the MQ in Delve, and I don't remember this bestiary or Menagerie aspect. I admit that I may have been inebriated at the time. I swear I've never seen this Menagerie until this build, and still, even after browsing the wikis, don't quite understand what it does or is.

City Builder is right. The dude is as powerful as me, and kills everything on screen as I stand and watch. I could do it, too, with my skills as an archer, but I just stand and watch the carnage, and pick up the pieces.
