Might & Magic X - Legacy

Relics not available
How do I reliably get my relics which I got with the deluxe edition? How does it work? When I ran the game like a week ago, they just appeared in my inventory. Then I reliazed that my dwarf defender will never be able to equip the important relic, as it requires the two-hand skill, so started with a new party, but no relics this time... tried again and again many ways, but no luck. That ubisoft launcher is not just very annoying, but also makes the game broken. Maybe I don't get the relics just because their servers are overloaded so the game fails to check if I should get them, and can't so it just doesn't give them to me? When I try to redeem any code in the "extras" settings, it says that it can't connect to the servers and that I should check my internet connection, but my connection is perfectly fine.

Not the answer you want, but I feel it is a bad fashion to give relics to a starting party of an RPG. Maybe it is good for marketing, and for attracting new/casual gamers, but it clashes with the old tradition 'in an RPG, start poor and ill-equipped'.

Don't worry, by the time your party will be able to use them you will have plenty more

They can be equipped at lvl 3 already, so no, you do not have much other items then, not even talking about actually good items.

Well in my case, relics were useless because either my classes were not the right ones to use them or I had to spend all skill points to one skill which I didn't like. Even if you are able to use them, you don't need them at level three anyway, the low level items you get are enough. All they do is lowering the difficulty with no reason so what's the point anyway?

All I am saying is you can enjoy the game perfectly without them, in fact they are worse than useless because they occupied space in my inventory and I never used some of them :)

Some of them may be useless, but the starting relic for the mage, the Thunderstaff, can deal more damage than whatever melee guys are training, and does not miss (in addition to boost to air magic spells). That is simply too much. Unbreakable (medium armor) at lvl 4 also seems overpowered for something you start the game with. And another thing- these relics are worth thousands of gold when levelled up, which changes gold balance as well. I would not mind if they were given only for easiest difficulty, or maybe as some help when playing randomly-generated party, but not as the main experience.

I agree with all that, but still, I paid for it and it's not my fault that their servers are down and their whole awful ubi DRM system faulty... Steam doean't want to refund, because I played for hundreds of hours already in the past, but I didn't rent the game & the deluxe content only for few hundreds of hours. I Bought it and should be able to replay the game including all the content I paid for however much I want and whenever I want... I hope that everything DRM will just burn and die...

But yes, it's awful to get anything in-game not for playing well, but for paying real money to devs. Kind of like cheating. Thing is, that I wanted to replay at the higher difficulty, but could use those relics to make it bit less brutal... Although some ot them are bit useless, like IIRC that crag hack's axe needs axe and two hand skills, and it's not very easy to come up with a good character having both and being able to equip it, as the few classes which can achieve GM level of both have some other weapon skill as a default one, which you can't turn off... technically only slightly wasteful, but my OCD hates it anyhow.

For me this game is definitely in the top3 of the whole series, MM3: Isles of Terra being #1, and I find it sad that when MMX will be as old as MM3, it might be entirely impossible to play it at all because of all this DRM sh*tfuc*ery, as ubisoft will be (hopefully) bankrupt by then and their servers will be down.

Fundamentally you are not wrong but all this hate for a few relics?!
You should be thankfull you can still play the game at all.
You can avoid deluxe version next time just to be on the safe side or even better avoid Ubi products entirely.

Yes, if you paid for it, it should definitely stay available. This is just Ubisoft caring only about profits, and are fine with being anti-consumer.

For what it's worth, I purchased this game right when it was released. I don't recall any relics in the game at all back then. I got about 20 hours into it and abandoned it because it ran so poorly, figuring I'd maybe look back into it again someday.

That day came about three weeks ago when I re-installed it from Steam after a big hardware upgrade and a completely fresh installation of Windows 10. While the game is launched from Steam, the Ubisoft Connect software still launched and I had to log into that as well.

Lo and behold, I noticed, once I created my new party, I had those four relics. It was a surprise to me, but I immediately sold one of them (the axe) because I knew none of my characters would ever max out axe and two-handed.

The point is that the problem isn't that the Ubisoft servers are offline, I think the original poster is simply dealing with the (annoying) possible fact that those relics ONLY show up for the first characters you create since the relics were introduced to the game.

Maybe there's a way to go back to one of the saved games and edit the party so that you still have access to those relics?

Also, remember, those ones aren't the only relics in the game. In fact, they're not necessarily the 'best' ones. For example, one relic requires completion of a somewhat elaborate quest. You may even eventually want to sell the relics you've been using for the beginning two acts of the game because your characters outgrow them.

Place the blame where it's due: on the likelihood this was a programming oversight or just simply bad judgment by the programmers rather than a non-existent technical issue with the servers.

The situation has evolved since the 1st of june, Ubisoft has withdrawn these artefacts and the rakshasa dungeon from the game. They'll no longer be available in New games

Time to ask for a refund (and I will get it). I have 274 hours played but would probably have played 200 more in coming years as I regularly come back to this game. I've had builds that rely on crag's hack helmet and in a lesser measure on thunderstaff, I was planning to try a bleeding solo build with the axe, I had paid extra money to be entitled to these, I had done achievements to get to the 40 points in uplay to unlock everything. No way I keep playing after such a rip off. No hatred or anyting like that, just requiring from game editors a minimum of respect for their player base, and the only way to obtain that is to hit them where it hurts. You should all ask for refunds as well if you took the deluxe edition.
It will be my first refund ever asked for a steam game (despite having bought quite a few games that I ended up not liking and playing only a couple hours or less). I really didn"t expect my first refund to be for this great game, but this is a totally inacceptable behaviour from ubisoft.
Otherwise next time they might as well remove the whole extension, why not.. anyway not that many players play through it more than once. Why not remove the easter egg dungeon as well in addition to the meow one, and remove these complicated quests for archmage/runleord etc.. to get a product more in line with ubisoft's usual empty games.

Are there any other consequences to users as a result of the Ubisoft servers going offline other than no more free relics when starting the game? How about progressing past Act I and entering Seahaven, or continuing with the Falcon and the Unicorn? Is anyone aware of any other game breakers?

Good luck refunding, let us know if you get one

How about progressing past Act I and entering Seahaven
The option is also disabled, it effectively means you can't play this game anymore.

Now this is indeed annoying, not some lost relics :Emo_2_Angry:
