Yeah, the download stopped at 237mb for me as well, it took a long time to download the rest, but it will finish eventually.

It's not a problem per se, in the "bug" or "error" sense. It's a bandwidth problem—and not just YOUR bandwidth. The bandwidth allocation for the distributing servers is pretty damned wide, but…it's literally a global issue. A great many executable archives are being updated all over Earth. There are ways that the data traffic can get bottlenecked—but the delays are only temporary. It might stop—for a while—but, unless there's something wrong with your system that is not related to this application, the download WILL resume.
So, again - Steam downloads all the new files, opens big rar-like files, overwrited the old ones with the new ones and close the rar-like file.
Being a player that only knows how to USE applications is NOT the same as being a player that knows how to DESIGN and WRITE applications. Ask yourself: Which kind of player, logically, should have a more credible, considered opinion?
And besides: If you KNOW what you're talking about, then what I wrote was NOT directed at you, so why the gawdamned thin skin? Paranoid much? And here's the kicker: If you WERE a professional coder, then why did you not cite specific technical reasons for your opinion that would actually strengthen the validity of your opinion? That would make what you wrote BAITING.
I already did, DickWithEars.
In order to keep folk that don't wait for the entire thing to come out interested in the game they have to release small extras. In hitmans case this is the elusive targets.
Downside is this means a lot of downloading of patches and the potential of a forced download that takes so long (gary busey was 10 gigs or thereabouts) that the window of playtime before the targets off the menu is miniscule.
Especially when the patching is wobbly and simply stops midway through.
Not that any of the online stuff works for me no matter how many hoops I've jumped through to get the game to simply connect.
Since you aren't a developer you probably won't understand this. But to update without copying the whole game you do it in small chunks.
I fired up Steam just a while ago and then it showed that Hitman wasn't installed which is weird because i can see the 40+ GBs files exist in the steam games foilder.
Now it is re-downloading some huge install files again.
I really wanted to catch some gameplay tonight.
