"32bit Windows restricts apps like this game to only 2gb of memory, which is not enough since the 1.12. patch. That workaround raised that limit to 2.5gb; but that 0.5 gb is not not available to Windows itself. 64bit Windows does not have these limits. "
The workaround referred to is:
"Then, IF AND ONLY IF you have 3gb or more of system memory installed, use this workaround:
1: Open Command Prompt (it's in Accessories in Vista)
2: Set it to be in Admin mode http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc947813(v=ws.10).aspx
3: Paste this in: bcdedit /set increaseuserva 2560
4: Restart
5: If you ever need to undo: BCDEdit /deletevalue increaseuserva
(does not apply to XP)
You should start planning to move to 64bit Windows when you can though, to make better use of what memory you have. "
The quotes are frm the Paradox tech mod on their forums.
I have exactly 2 GB RAM, so no trickery solves that
Paradox has to update EU4's minimum requirements on the Steam page and elsewhere, and clearly declare this event so others don't randomly hear it secondhand.
In any case, thanks for the confirmation 691neil.
