While these are always factors and can sometimes cause confusion, I can confirm/clarify there was indeed a price increase on October 17th, when the 4 DLC were added to the basegame.
Oh no, they have give 4 DLC out for free to anyone who has ever bought the base game before!!
And all the new players that come in will get those 4 DLC for the price of 2.25 pounds each!!!
Such a greedy company severely lowering the price of their products!!
Increasing price prior to a sale event, is illegal.
If you dont know who the ACCC is, thank them for being able to refund steam games.
They just fined the Australian national airline $100m for misleading customers.
Im fairly certain Paradox has felt their wrath in the past.
Hi Ryagi,
On Oct 11 Paradox advertised the following:
4 DLC free now in preparation for October 17th!
I would advise you that could be classified as "misleading consumers" under Australian Law.
I would refer this to legal promptly if I was in your position.
If the product is the same yes. However, if you were selling A for 10 and are now selling A + B + C for 15, as far as the legal side of things is concerned you have not increased the price of the product but simply put a different price tag on a different product.
Again, nothing misleading about it when they clearly wrote, in the very first line of that very post that
Especially when they went on to explain why those product were given out for free before they were officially added to the game:
Im sure the ACCC will take that on board before they start handing out fines.
If you dont know how the ACCC works, stay out of it buddy.
ACCC can enforce world wide, ask Steam, Sony, Pfizer, etc.
They are currently going after supermarkets for doing this exact thing.
Hope your backyard lawyering works out for you.
So instead of actually replying on the points I raised you choose to criticise me over what the ACCC can or cannot rule over, or how they work even though I have literally said not one word about it?
Cool, I'll just wait for the ACCC to fine Steam and Paradox for something that is perfectly legal.
Would you be so kind as to notify me when that happens?
Thx
What?
Aye, 9,999 hours is at the main menu while listening to lofi
My issue is that this only helped EU4 players that already owned the game. So why increase the price of the base game for newer players? This is a pretty terrible change, newer players now have to fork out quite a bit more.
If something is going to be marked as for free, it shouldn't just inflate the base game. Especially when these DLCs are half a decade old at this point.
You can't even get the subscription without buying the base game, this will throw more people away from buying. That is, if it isn't on sale like now... which is a steal.
It only affects you. All sellers have the right to set prices as they want to, all buyers have the right to choose if they want to buy or not. It's that simple.
None of your points were relevant, thats why I didnt comment.
Google ACCC and your eyes will open.
Here is the $3m fine ACCC imposed on steam, for stating no refunds.

It is illegal to say anything contrary to ACL.
ACL defines refund conditions for Australian consumers.
Paradox stated, as I quoted earlier, 4 DLCs are free.
ACL says you cant charge for anything you say is free.
To say something is to be included for free, then raise the price contravenes ACL.
