seems like it would not be difficult to make versions for mac and linux considering the game doesn't even use 3d acceleration. does it require directx at all?...

Linux is best for mail, file, http and database Servers but as everytime the last 20 years very bad for desktop gaming! Linux guys wished windows death since 20 years but it lives more than everything else on the desktop
as they can see now! Since Windows 7 it is a very good OS and is very good supported especially from steam! Thanks a lot!!!!!!
And if I do not like Linux on the desktop I can say it eveywhere and everytime!!!!!

But I also will that this lovely game will be available for Linux!!!!!!

Pac-DX is only on every single mobile platform, it's even on the dinky Roku box. Therefore, it's utterly impossible to port to Mac and Linux. That kind of effort is simply too expensive for any company larger than 2 guys working out of mom's garage.

If you don't like that simple fact of giant corporate life, buy something like "Monaco" instead.
