Hacked leaderboards suck.
Look at any leaderboard on this game, and you'll find scores upwards of two billion. Look at the replays for any of the highest scores, and you'll find them almost always dying almost immediately. It's pretty obvious that these scores are hacked, and the solution seems insultingly easy:

When a new score is submitted, the game should check at the end of the replay to see what the player's score really is, because it's much harder to fake a replay. This should be the new basis of the player's leaderboard entry. Any scores from before this gets added should be screened in this fashion to see what if the score matches. If not, I propose they get banned from the leaderboard. (Kinda harsh, but they can request a repeal if it was a false negative, and it would be scanned by humans) Also, just to be safe, the leaderboard should be scanned periodically to make sure that no fake high scores got through.

Honestly, this seems like it would be an easy problem to solve. All it would really take is some sort of sub-routine to read the score from the replay, and a repeal system just in case.

Namco, you're better than this. Step it up.

Yeah, as you say, it should be easy, but Namco doesn't seem interested and pay no attention to this game and its bugs, and the players' suggestions as well :S

The leaderboards are where most of the motivation for long term play comes from. so this is a problem.

Go check and watch "king of Kong".. very instructive about scoring and Nemesis in scoring...
Anyway thx for the light. During the last 30 years i've spent playing all kind of games i thought fun was the motivation to play (in early or long term.) Scoring is only ONE lil' part of motivation in gaming... "most" was excessive. Arcade cabinets are dead for a long time, and scoring died with them.
