WTF Earthen Peak ???
So Earthen Peak is a massive tower. I climbed to the top of it and killed a boss there... And then there was an elevator going up... From the top of the tower.... And it took me to the Iron Keep ? A massive castle that is somehow sinking in lava ? IN THE SKY ??? WTF ? Can someone explain to me how that works ?

(i havent explored it yet so no spoilers pls)

The same is in Heide's Tower of Flame, you go there move through sinking building, enter elevator going down and you finish in aa undeground port of some sort. Logic lvl master

Ghost Ships are submarine, hence underwater port.

also, to get to no-mans wharf you take a bridge at sea level, go down stairs (underwater), go down some more stairs (underwaterer), take an elevator down (etc). then you walk up a gentle hill and pirate cave! at the end of it you sail on a boat to Bastille

So the Prison is located under the ocean but has its own ocean also.. Its like the Lake episode on spongebob

It is just a poor transition. Whenever traveling to a new area you are actually traveling a very large distance.

This. The map in the mansion shows we travel across an entire continent.

Time is irrelevant in Drangleic so why should location not be? They could be tied together

FROM made places and glued it.
End of story.
But people will dislike a geographical way it makes no sense? C'mon, it's Dark Souls 2, not Dark Souls 2 Prepare to Whine Edition.

The areas in Dark Souls are NOT meant to be taken literally as being that exact distance from each other. The Dragon Aerie is a whole continent away from Majula, yet in the game it takes about the time it would take to walk across town to get there. The path there is shortened so it would be a contiguous world and not having to select stuff on a map screen.

Which was a terrible decision. If they didnt want to keep the connected world approach from DS1, a map and fast-travel would have been much better than ridiculously stupid locations.

As a kind of reverse example of this: From majula you can see drangleic castle quite a distance away. When you travel there by foot from majula it's nowhere near as far as it looks.

For all we know, based on the whole idea of time manipulation in the souls series, the lift after earthen peak is travelling through time as well. admittedly far-fetched, but not enough to warrant so much complaint.

LE B TEAM MEME X'D NO LVL DESIGN : ^ ) Regarding earthen peak and the elevator, yeah, maybe if you'd think about it for a minute IT TAKES YOU TO A VOLCANIC PLATEAU OF A BIG MOUNTAIN BUT NAW MAN NAW LAVA IS LIKE INSIDE THE EARTH RITE? X'D IT HAS TO BE ALLWAYS UNDERGROUND. Strong simpletons srs
