Is the Crafting Event worth it?

No, its not, unless you have some expendable income or are willing to grind 6+ hours a day, there is no point grinding this event

I dont think you can purchase your way through it? The heavy lasgun needs superweapon parts that you cant purchase if i understand it correctly. You can only purchase the soldiers which are ... useless if you cant buy the heavy lasgun?

Edit: I was wrong, you can purchase the Heavy Lasgun. So yeah, you could buy yourself the needed stuff.

It's literally a full time job for a week, in the sense that it would take around 6-8 playtime hours daily to get all the vehicles (and I'm not really sure if you can get all of them due to the crate limitations and so on)

So... It depends on how much you value your time

3 times. You can apparently buy it for under $10 on the market place though. If you're serious about it, I'd recommend that or start grinding vehicles that will get the results you want. Right now I'm in a certain bomber I shall not name getting #1 each game.

Looking at how few have been sold at the start of the event it's probably very low.

As for OP. No, it's not worth it. I'd just sell whatever materials you get while playing regularly. A single shift at minimum wage (for most countries) is enough to buy any vehicle you want from the event.
