Cutscenes keep freezing

Got an issue, cutscenes in the game keep freezing randomly. The audio keeps going, and the game doesn't crash, but the video just come to a complete stop. Sometimes it resumes 5-10 seconds later, sometimes it doesn't. Specs below.

Nvidia GT730 2GB
AMD FX 4350 Quad-core @ 4.2 GHz
8GB RAM
Windows 8.1

Anyone else got this problem? Got a fix?

Can you please, send us your save game and log.txt from your game folder to [e-mail] so we can check it out? Please link this thread too so our programmers can see what the problem is.

I'm getting this problem too. Every single video that plays, including the intro videos and the videos that play in the background of the main menu, hangs up for a few seconds. It's mainly at the end of the video just before the next video loads where it happens. Though when starting a new game it froze up completely during the opening cutscene.

No savegame or log to produce. It just hangs/stutters/freezes on all cinematics, including the opening. Main menu cutscenes tend to hang too.

I do share a quality with the OP in that I have an AMD CPU

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 1700 1.375V @ ~3.8GHz
OS: Windows 10 Professional 64 Bit
GPU: AMD R9 Fury 12GB

EDIT: Have just tried validation/reinstall as per suggestions in other threads. Nothing. It still stutters. I'm also having the issue where alt-enter will not put the game into fullscreen anymore and in failing to go to fullscreen it messes up the resolution of the UI.

I've got a log, but no save file, as I never actually saved the game. I don't want to play until I've got this fixed. Seems like I'm not the only one with the problem, either.

Same here. Opening videos freeze. In main menu the videos playing in the background when choosing between Freeroam and Campaign freeze too. =(

EDIT: I'm running Windows 7 64 Bit. Starting the game using "StarpointGemini2_win7.exe" the videos run fine, but the game completely freezes once I choose a player type and click "next". "StarpointGemini2.exe" has freezing videos, but I can click next and a large cinematic starts. Video freezes after ~10 seconds and I can only hear the narrators voice...

no save file (& save file unrelated) since the introduction cutscene does it.

honestly I would think it might be CODEC related...
I use VLC myself so I have zero codec pack installed.
also windows media player uninstalled too.

I've looked at the movie files separately, no issue whatsoever (with VLC so this skips system wide CODECs)
I'm pretty sure the issue lies with the "theora CODEC" used to encode the video. it probably requires some more components to be played correctly

for reference the movie files are stored in :
.\Steam\SteamApps\common\Starpoint Gemini 2\Spg2\Movies

edit: also same issue with the LgmLogo.ogv & pretty much all cutscenes in fact

edit2: installed k-lite codec pack standard, no changes.

Same here. Had to watch the intro on youtube, since it completely froze about 2 minutes in (audio kept playing though)
