Can't do anything in demo?

I downloaded the demo, because I wanted to see if I liked the game or not, but, I can't do ANYTHING... like pick a song, even play my own song, or even play the song of the day!
What the crap!?

This is literally what it says about the demo. "What do I get in the demo?

The demo allows players to play any song they want, for their first 3 songs. After that, they can play the Song of the Day, everyday, as many times as they want."

And yet, when I try to play a song, it just say, "Buy the game to play ANY song". Soooo.... Lies? Really?

Yep. :( But I also heard this game is dead and also a bit broken and abandoned. Idk if I should buy it if that's the case.

Abandoned yes, dead is subjective, but it's definitely headed down that road. A bit broken? Depends on your viewpoint. The gameplay itself is as good as it always was, the youtube integration has some... quirks. If you're not going to be invested in the competitive side of the game (i.e. aiming to get top 5 scores on every song of the day) it doesn't matter in the slightest.

Which is currently a joke, what with people getting different versions of the track even when playing through the same video.

The gameplay is good, but if you're looking to focus on a fair competition with other people, then look elsewhere.

Oh, okay. So should I get Audiosurf 1 or 2? After looking at some videos of AS2 I'm kind of convinced that it may be better. :) Thanks.

I've only really played AS2 so I'm afraid I can't give a fair comparison. From what I've seen/read there doesn't seem to be a big advantage that AS1 offers over AS2, and the steam workshop obviously means AS2 has a much, much greater range of skins/mods.

Yeah, AS2 is better in almost every way. The only real advantage AS1 has is its more detailed and searchable account/stats/leaderboard system.
