Overwatch 2 Community Code of Conduct

Welcome to the Overwatch 2 Community! Our game’s Steam® Community is here to provide you with a friendly environment where you can discuss ideas, give gameplay advice, and converse about any other aspects of Overwatch 2 and other Blizzard games with your fellow players. Community discussions are at their best when participants treat their fellow posters with respect and courtesy. Therefore, we ask that you conduct yourself in a civilized manner when participating in our community content.

The guidelines and rules listed below explain what behavior is expected of you and what behavior you can expect from other community members. Note that the following guidelines are not exhaustive and may not address all manner of offensive behavior. As such, the community moderators shall have full discretion to address any behavior that they feel is inappropriate. Your access to post in the Overwatch 2 Community is a “privilege” and not a “right.” Blizzard Entertainment reserves the right to suspend your access to the Overwatch 2 Community at any time for reasons that include but are not necessarily limited to, your failure to abide by these guidelines.

We reserve the right to evaluate each incident on a case-by-case basis and issue account actions appropriately for each case.

Racial / Ethnic
Do not create posts with clear or masked language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which:

• Promote racial/ethnic hatred
  
• Are recognized as a racial/ethnic slur
  
• Allude to a symbol of racial/ethnic hatred

Account Trading
Do not create posts that advertise your account, game codes, or in-game currency for sale or trade or that you are looking for an account, game codes, or in-game currency to purchase through:

• Community discussion posts
  
• Linking to online marketplaces
  
• Listing you have something for trade and then offering your contact information

Extreme Sexuality / Violence
Do not post any content with clear or masked language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which:

• Refer to extreme and/or violent sexual acts
  
• Refer to extremely violent real life actions

Pornography
Posting any not safe for work (NSFW), “rule 34,” or other graphically inappropriate multimedia content is STRICTLY PROHIBITED and will result in permanent bans from the Overwatch 2 Community without warning.

Real-Life Threats
Posting any clear and masked language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which refer to violence in any capacity that is not directly related to the game world is STRICTLY PROHIBITED and will result in permanent bans from the Overwatch 2 Community without warning.

Distribution of Real-Life Personal Information
Do not post or release any real-life information about other players or Blizzard Entertainment employees. Violation of this policy will result in a permanent ban from the Overwatch 2 Community without warning.

Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity
Do not post any clear and masked language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which insultingly refer to any aspect of sexual/romantic orientation or gender identity/expression (male, female, transgender, bigender, pangender, genderfluid, agender or any non-binary identity not listed) pertaining to themselves or other players.

Posting Cheats, Hacks, Trojan Horses or Malicious Programs
Do not post links to cheats, hacks, or malicious viruses / programs.
If you would like to report information regarding cheats or hacks to Blizzard, send it to [e-mail]. Do not post it to the Overwatch 2 Community discussion channel.

Impersonating a Blizzard Employee
Passing yourself off as a Blizzard employee to post false information will result in restrictions to posting in the Overwatch 2 Community.

Posting Unreleased Content / Hacking Data Files
Do not post any content and/or links to websites containing such language or images including:

• Show unreleased in-game items, equipment, or areas that have been unlocked by hacking into client data files
  
• Show the results of hacking or any tampering of the game’s MPQ files
  
• Discuss, or display any data not available through normal game play

Obscene / Vulgar
Do not post content with clear and masked language in posts, signatures, and/or links to websites containing such language or images which:

• Are an inappropriate reference to human anatomy or bodily functions
  
• Are pornographic in nature

Inappropriate Language
Do not post language, included covered or censored language, and/or links to websites containing such language or images which:

• Are a mildly inappropriate reference to human anatomy or bodily functions
  
• Are otherwise considered objectionable
  
• Bypass the Mature Language filter

Harassing or Defamatory
Do not post content with any clear or masked language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which:

• Insultingly refer to other characters, players, Blizzard employees, or groups of people
  
• Result in ongoing harassment to other characters, players, Blizzard employees, or groups of people

Harassment takes many forms, and is not necessarily limited to the type of language used, but the intent. Repeatedly targeting a specific player with harassment can lead to more severe action. The idea behind this is to prevent any one player from consistently being uncomfortable in the Overwatch 2 Community.

Addressing Blizzard Employees
Don’t use words like “Blizzard,” “Blue,” or any employee names in a thread topic. Everyone would like Blizzard to read and acknowledge his or her post, and we understand that. However, these kinds of posts won’t help you achieve your goal. Please make your thread title relevant to the post subject.

Major Religions or Religious Figures
Do not post content with clear or masked language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which negatively portray major religions or religious figures.

National Discrimination
Do not post any language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which:

• Promote national hatred
  
• Are recognized as national slurs
  
• Allude to symbols of national hatred

Illegal Drugs or Activities
Do not post any content with any clear or masked language and/or links to websites containing such language or images which:

• Reference to abusing illegal drugs
  
• Reference to performing illegal activities

Spamming or Trolling
Do not excessively communicate the same phrase, similar phrases, acronyms, or pure gibberish
Do not post simply to bump a thread. This also includes bumping very old threads for no reason (called “necro bumping” or “necroing”).
Do not creating threads for the sole purpose of causing unrest in the Overwatch 2 Community or be causing disturbances in threads, such as picking fights, making off-topic posts that ruin the thread, insulting other posters.
Don’t post in all capital letters, use a misleading title, excessive punctuation, and/or non-standard symbols, etc.

Petition posts
We ask that you hold discussions. Creating a thread to ask for replies as votes is not a discussion and petition posts are likely to be removed. Polls are also not permitted.

Making non-constructive posts
Do not abuse the Reported Post feature by sending false alarms or nonsensical messages or number a thread, IBTL, TLDR, or any other fad statements.

Creating Duplicate Threads
Do not create new threads about existing topics already discussed in other threads.

Cross Linking Threads
Do not linking to threads from other communities, forums, or Reddit pages without substantial context or create threads with the sole purpose of linking another post.

Posting Misleading Guides and Content
Any videos, guides, or informational content that is not directly contributing to helping other players with specifically Overwatch 2 may be subjected to removal.

Advertising
Do not create posts that advertise or promote any any non-beneficial, non-Blizzard related businesses, organizations, or websites.

Discussing Disciplinary Actions
Do not create posts that discuss disciplinary actions taken against a player, including chat logs and email correspondence between a player and a customer service representative or discuss disciplinary actions taken against an account on the Overwatch 2 community.

Circumventing a Suspension / Ban
Do not post on another account that you do not own or have someone post on your behalf.

IMPORTANT

Repeatedly violating any area of the Blizzard Terms of Use or Overwatch 2 Community Code of Conduct, including the areas detailed above, will often result in permanent banishment from the Overwatch 2 Community.
This policy is not language-restrictive. Language that falls under this policy will always be subject to the repercussions listed, whether it is inappropriate in English or any other language.

The bottom line is that we want the Overwatch 2 Community to be a fun and safe environment for all players. While playing Blizzard games and posting on the Overwatch 2 Community, you will encounter thousands of other players who share different experiences and come from vastly different backgrounds. While certain language and images may not be offensive to you, consider the fact that that same language and images may have a completely different effect on someone else. We’ve done everything we can to make this a great environment – now it’s up to you!
