New Horizons mod (English translation) heads-up and links
If you want an expansive mod for Eador-Genesis with a English translation, this is the one to try-
http://eador.com/B2/viewtopic.php?t=3380

As of today, you'll want to download and install the main mod first-
https://mega.co.nz/#!hY1XgIjS!ysZj_LBxEmfbZqY8QRJsl7v91FR1G9iJ01fviX3asOg

Then the most recent mod patch-
https://mega.co.nz/#!9AlTwTZI!ave-r-oU68n-vHJerGent--alCLEA8GOr7nYuKT6Hu0

The first link is (kinda) the home for the English version of the mod and updates, while the other two are direct download links for the mod itself which is current as of January 31, 2015.

Thanks to the modmakers and translators.

The New Horizons mod sounded good enough that I repurchased it here on Steam, but 4 attempts at installing it with the patch have each led to CTDs. I had the original New Horizons mod on my old pc, so I know what I'm missing and just can't settle for vanilla now.

@scutagira: Please report tech issues with the English translation 2.4 of the mod on eador.com forum - e.g. by starting a new thread in "The Guild of Craftsmen" http://eador.com/B2/viewforum.php?f=33

Tech support for the New Horizons mod is excellent on eador.com forum.

Thanks for responding, bavarian kid, but I cannot figure out how to sign up for the forum there to post. Tried downloading the mod plus the patch again but it still crashes at launch just as the loading bar fills up.

Everything is good now. Manually replacing each file one at a time did the trick!

And guys, please report any text or game bugs in the "Guild of Craftsmen" on http://eador.com/B2/index.php.

Most English speakers find it difficult to create an account there so I made a visual step-by-step pdf https://www.dropbox.com/s/8pxmtfd5tsf2mcb/Registration.pdf?dl=0 .

English version ... not that I know of. Filterable HTML tables of items, spells, units can be explored here http://eador.com/B2/viewtopic.php?t=3470

As far as castle units are concerned, they simply can be upgraded to a more powerful x.5 version. Example with outdated graphics: http://eador.com/B2/viewtopic.php?p=150848#150848

The building tree itself can be simply explored by opening buildings on the "Building plan screen". Both "Required buildings" and "Gives access to buildings" are shown. "Gives access to buildings" allows you to follow your options from the most basic building to high end buildings.

Alliance races you best explore by making an alliance with them :).
Alliance buildings and available units can be explored then via the "Building plan screen".

If you are ok with a Russian version with nice graphics - slightly outdated, from last year - here you go:

v.14: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4i08foc8vxqoht4/eadoropedia_ng_14.1228_v001.zip?dl=0
v.14 including f01: https://www.dropbox.com/s/cc5oud23hg66d3x/eadoropedia_ng_14.1228.f01_v001.zip?dl=0

But please feel free to make an English version manual e.g with individual unit graphis, spells and spell descriptions for v.15 and publish it either here or on eador.com.

Thank you Bavarian. Very decent of you to upload and link those Eadoropedia files
When I open them in Chrome they translate to English and I can read them just fine
I am a complete newcomer to Eador and still clueless about the game
but the more I see of Eador the more I like it
and the New Horizons mod is very impressive

I think that someone who knew what they were doing could replicate the files in English google-translation and get it to function as it does in the Russian. Maybe. I dont know enough to do it; but perhaps it can be done by someone more computer savy than I.

Lmao, just had the "monster hunters" fight, and came across the "witcher" unit, who cast igni on one of my swordsmen.

I gotta say, I'm only a little way into the first shard, having defeated the first ring and several province fights, but so far it looks pretty good. I was concerned about how the modders would balance the game since a lot of people think the base game is too difficult because they don't understand how the game works. I'm glad to see that the difficulty seems to be about the same, so far anyway.
