Collector's Edition - Some cool stuff but no DLC?
I am about to buy this game. It looks too awesome not to get it. So I am looking at the Collector's Edition and thinking, $13.50 USD for in-game items, wallpaper, digital map, etc. Stuff that will be on google images and items we may find in game> I wonder why they didn't have it cost a little more and throw in the first paid DLC or let us get the free DLC two weeks before their release. I bought The Witcher 3 for PC and learned the console buyers got cloth maps, Gwent Decks, Key Chains, Necklaces, etc. $13.50 isn't a lot but coupled with the game price it's not enough to rope me in. Additionally, I am not sure how much content and DLC is planned and I would be upset if I learned that the PS4 Collector's Editon came with a cloth map, real sword, working staff, real doll, etc, ;-)

Game Preorder price: $26.99
Collector's Edition Preorder price: $40.49

Game price at launch: $29.99
Collector's Edition launch price: $44.99

PC Collector's Edition Content:

Ubersreik Map - A high resolution digital copy of the Ubersreik Map, detailing the town and its treacherous streets.

Vermintide Wallpapers - High resolution wallpapers to decorate your screen and prepare you for the battles to come.

Behind the Scenes Pack - This pack contains documents, concepts and footage stretching back to the beginning of Vermintide's development.

Official Soundtrack - The atmospheric tones of the soundtrack written to match the malicious Skaven race, by critically acclaimed composer Jesper Kyd.

UNIQUE Headpiece: Candlelight Guard - A Guard for the Bright Wizard that is adorned with beeswax candles from Altdorf's most exclusive chandler. Beeswax candles burns cleanly without the foul and terrible odour of their cheaper tallow counterparts.

UNIQUE Headpiece: Dal Grimazul - From the Dark Lands to Marienburg, the shape of the Dal Grimazul helm is instantly recognizable. This is the classic Dwarf War Helm, proven over millennia of battle and hardship, and a favourite of Bardin the Ranger.

UNIQUE Headpiece: Hat of Purifying Light - With two candles blessed by Priests of the Great Temple attached to the band of his wide brimmed hat, a purifying glow surrounds the Witch Hunter as he strides forth in the night. “The righteous feel no pain. Be you unrighteous?” - Victor Saltzpyre.

UNIQUE Headpiece: Tal Amere Crown - A battle hood from the Hall of Tal Amere in Atylwyth, the winter realm of Athel Loren. Its delicate fabric keeps the wearer warm and safe, useful for Kerillian as she walks the often cold and hostile land of men.

UNIQUE Headpiece: Ironside Helmet - A helmet for the Soldier, named after the ‘Ironsides’, a unit whose recruits are drawn from the guards and apprentices of the renowned Imperial Gunnery School. Clad in heavy armour and armed with master-wrought firearms, the Nuln Ironsides are one of the most widely respected and well equipped Handgunner regiments in the Empire.

2 UNIQUE Trinkets - Dazzle the rest of your team with these 2 prestigious trinkets.
I have not played any Warhammer game or Left for Dead 2 for two reasons, I almost exclusively play 1st person games with few exceptions.

Well they haven't announced any post-launch DLC. They do have plans, but nothing has actually been officially announced so I think they're still planning that stuff out - not a good idea to go promising something when you haven't nailed down what's coming out when, after all.

I thought I read a dev state in another post that there will be free and paid DLC but I have been reading a lot of post from a lot of other game forums. I may be wrong.

I don't steal stuff off of the warez sites anymore (maybe I have better morales or am just more mature) but knowing how easy it is, digital content that isn't in-game doesn't interest me. I don't see me drving around jamming out to any game soundtrack and I can probaly make better and definately more wallpaper during gameplay.

Copying, not stealing. Has nothing to do with morals, trust me.

They have said that there will be DLC, they just haven't announced any specific DLC. All we know about post-launch content is that there'll be some, nothing else.

There will be lots of stuff added post launch for years to come. We have a real solid game on our hands, in a game world with endless possibilities. We will expand this game world as much as we can :) The only reason for an indie developer not to support a game is if no copies are sold of the game. Then you cannot pay your staff or development of new content. It's just plain math. I cannot even begin to describe how happy I am that the game we have been working on for the last 2 years is doing so well as it is now :)

If you have a solid idea and put it into fruition the sky's the limit.

Just promise us to never get greedy *cough* Overkill *cough*.

Yeah, we won't. We will alternate between free dlc's with paid dlc's. And make sure they are constructed so neither split the player-base.

I think adding one free DLC, even if it's a mini $5 DLC would be great incentive for a collector's addition. but,I bought the game and you have my money minus Steam's ridiculous cut.

I would be very proud to be a part of this. I see this becoming a whole new series. I may have remorse to not have bought the collector's edition. Two ideas; Let people upgrade to the colletor's addition and add two packs and four packs.

Fall Out 3 and Star Wars Battlefront will kill sales for many games soon so your timing is good!!!
Nothing this cool is out right now. Good job there!
I would do whatever I can to keep the attention on this game and throw in another 10% sale or more after the two aforementioned game releases.

Will all that fancy junk only be viewable upon launch? I just got CE and I cant find the wallpapers or soundtrack or map in my steam files like with other games.

I read in another thread that it will be at launch. Just search DLC in discussions.

It does indeed have to do with morals. It's just that your morals are bent enough to allow this. They put the game up at a VERY low asking price as it is indeed a full game. They offer the option to pay closer to what they COULD have asked for the game, and offer bonus content for those who do to reward them. To steal that content and not pay them for it is still stealing. It's the theft equivalent of a peeping tom. Sure, nothing was physically lost, but that does not make it morally justified. This is just philosophical debate though.

GREAT job on the game jow. That lowered asking price had me worried... as if the game might not be as good as I was expecting. I had nothing to fear, it's great. Many thanks for the lowered asking price, especially with the many great games coming out soon that will certainly not be so generous. That said, my fears made me NOT get the collectors edition (I'm also only acquainted with the warhammer 40k lore, and was not sure it would translate to the non-40k world) This is by far the best Games Workshop game, and I've only seen 3 levels in pre release form.

What I need is a method to upgrade to CE version from Heretic version (That is what I am calling the non-CE version, and that is what everyone should refer to it as from now on) without re-buying the entire game. I'm supporting a wife and 4 kids on 13.25/hr and I'm STILL regretting not buying CE... but not enough to rebuy the game. I believe the standard practice is to release a "digital upgrade" that contains the CE stuff. I'm not in a hurry for it, but don't let me loot up better looking headgear before you let that fly (and please do let that fly).

Good luck with the server maintenance! I'm sure it'll be up by the time I get home tomorrow, but so long as it's not troubling you by launch day... Not for us gamers, but for the stress level of everyone working over there. I'm sure a broken server launch day would disappoint them more than us.
