Unfortunately the MP is quite dead. Make sure you have friends to play with. It's still quite fun solo.
The game is quite short (about 3-4 hours, maybe) but it does have replay value. Tons of crazy weapons to find/purchase, remixed campaign and armour can level up giving you access to more weapons and abilities.
Firefall sucks.
I played for awhile during those weekends because I was extremely interested in the game. To me there really wasn't much to do. The game world is lovely but its empty. There are things that are called thumpers that essentially allow you to gather resources and kill enemies that are attracted to the thumping... Its one of the biggest things in the game from my understanding and they were incredibly easy. Every once in awhile it got tough but for the most part I was disappointed by them.
Aside from that I was able to run around for hours and not encounter enemies except in what appeared to be quest areas or thumper events. Quest zones or events were fun simply because if you died they kept their progression. It was basically clearing out a base for an objective and then delivering that object to a beacon. Another one I had to reassemble a thumper. There were a few really cool "zone' events that occurred that had multiple stages. I ended up going through a portal at the end of one and getting killed as it became unstable. It was fun, but I need to learn more about those events or rather the after events so I know what I am doing.
I tried PvP... waited about two hours for a game and then had to log off.
Essentially from what I found, there is potential and the ideas are there. It just isn't the best execution. The content is either too easy or just a hair on the too challenging side (mainly due to the way the AI and enemies act) by yourself. With friends, its all very easy from what I found.
They've probably improved it much since I played and I know there is a lot I didn't get to. My first impressions were kind of meh after about 10 hours of play.
