"Rotate your mouse clockwise to advance the text"?!?
Can we please have an option to /not/ having to rotate the mouse and instead use, say, the mouse scroll wheel?

Doing the rotation thing is beyond annoying! Especially since the detection is very wonky. Sometimes, I do 10 full circles, sometimes just one and it advances two places.

Also, you can just press the arrow key "left" or "right", just to let you know"-"

Oh, okay, that's far better! :)

... You're right. Nevermind me, then :)

When 'rotating' the mouse, we are envisaging the player drawing small circles with the mouse in a clockwise rotation. It should feel quite fluid, and should never fail. Apologies for any misdirection. We will update this textually in the next release. (oh, and yes, clicking or arrow keys do the tick also!)

I've been doing exactly that, drawing small circles with my mouse. If I had been in a paint program, I would been painted circles. Nevertheless, the game rarely recognized them correctly; it was everything but fluid.

I am on Linux, though, so maybe your Linux build is buggy in that respect?

Having said that, I don't like the idea of doing this rotation in the first place. But I am quite happy with the arrow keys and the left click working as well. :)

Rotating the mouse just seems like a terrible idea for PC, might be something that'd work on a touchscreen, but just resulted in my frustratedly circling repeatedly as nothing happened 95% of the time..Would've put the game down for good were it not for this post explaining arrow keys and clicking doing the same thing (in a much more sensible way).

I'm having zero problems with it, so far, and it does feel fluid, at least to me. xD Ah well, this is all moot, thanks to the left click. :)

I've found that if you're going to draw circles, only draw one circle. Doing a bunch in a row seems to cause it not to work right most of the time.
But if I draw one smallish circle and wait, it'll go to the next line(s).

Still, I went to the controls and saw arrows were allowed, so away I went. Thought about remapping to mouse buttons, but didn't feel it was necessary. This is an interesting way to make a visual novel, I'd like to see more in this vein.

Thanks for the arrow trick. I'm playing on a 2560x1440 monitor and can't find resolution options - the low res combined with the fact the game doesn't 'lock' the mouse makes it very hard to circle! The cursor slips out of the game window very easily, so a fully circle is... tricky.

Hi Steed - the size of the circle shouldn't matter. Could be the size of 10p piece. Important thing is to do just one clockwise rotation. Hope you're enjoying the story so far.

1)this was the only problem that i found with the game
2)is a bloody amazing adaptation from the book and if i might say it pass the hitchcock film version (the other versions was painfull and ditching the book!)
3)amazing music and atmosphere
4)please please please do more classic books that no one knows today!!!

oh and thank you for an awesome experience

For me on Linux rotating works maybe one circle out of ten.

But pressing the left button of the mouse also advance the text... which is by the way, the more easier and obvious action to do in this case, and it works.

The mouse rotation is so awesome though. It adds to the game's atmosphere on the player. Good job with that and no problems with it either. One rotation advances the text perfectly.

1. Why don't you tell the reader to "Draw clockwise circles with your mouse"? Nobody is "rotating" their mouse. The term is confusing.
2. Why don't you alert readers to the fact that they can press the left mouse button?
3. No matter what circle I "draw" with the mouse, it will not progress (or regress). It simply does not work.
