Both were good, in their own ways. Sega version has more RPG elements and open-gameplay while SNES one feels more like a RPG/graphic adventure (you know, you need to pick stuff and use it in the right situations and places to make things work)

SEGA
Haven't played either so I couldn't say which is better. What I will say is that the protagonist from the SNES game, Jake Armitage, is a hireable runner in Returns and will have something to do with the game's main plot. What links they put to the Genesis game's story haven't been mentioned much, but I'd be surprised if they didn't have a few solid ones.

I'd say SEGA for the matrix, the more advanced rpg elements, open gameplay and its particular ambience that worked better on me than the snes one.

Both were good titles that their own merits and I reccomend either to be completely honest. The thing is the SNES version is much more linear, but it's an intriguing story of a man who died, came back, and has no idea who he is or why people want to kill him.

But the Genesis version is much more vast and open-ended, it's necessary to take on odd-jobs to make things happen and other things like that. It's a lot of fun as well.

Sega Version, there is no matrix in the snes version, the SNES version just felt like an adventure game and not an rpg, SEGA version was also a sandbox kinda game where there was a main story, lots of mini quests/missions to do and lots more different kinds of ppl to recruit.

SEGA for sure, still sitting in my collection. I do particularly like the SNES one as well as it felt more true to the Shadowrun world for me, in the sense the world felt more bleek. The hacking in the SEGA version is still to date some of the best hacking gameplay ever.

SNES since I'm a purist. Its just truer to its world, ya' dig?

The sega game was awesome. Never got into the PnP version of this.

I was a hardcore fan of the SNES, but I have ot admit, the SEGA version I liked more because you can choose one of the three classes, and it had that open world element.

Sega version of Shadowrun was the best game of all time. There was also an awesome Sega CD release if you can find it translated from Japanese.

Sega, because unlike that ...odd ... SNES one, the sega one stuck to both the SR lore /and/ game play. It's as close as one can get to PnP SR ..hell it's more pnp like then most DnD games come to think of it...

SNES for the more stable story element, SEGA for the action.

I didn't even know a SNES version existed until more recently.

When I was younger I had a SNES, but would always borrow my friends Genesis to play SR. I've always regarded it as one of the greatest games I've ever played, and in that way has always been a standard that little to no other game has ever lived up to.
