Best Army Composition?
Is it better to have bigger armies (20K)? Or smaller armies?

Depends on what you're using the army for.

Oh, depends what the supply limit is, basically as large as possible without taking attrition cause 'my god attrition is so bad. But you'll have to keep at least 2 if not 3 armies close to eachother to reinforce in case of a battle as the AI doesnt care about attrition.

Well, I overall like big armies (taking into account attrition max), but:
- too big armies are bad, because one general is building up a lot of loyal units. Unless he has very high base loyalty bonus (like for being your friend), this is bad; even if he's your friend he can become troublesome when he dies. You can add mercenaries to mitigate this has they never turn loyal
- on the other hand it's tempting to have a general lead large armies if he's skilful, that can save your hide... So usually I have a bigger army led by my best general, or a very loyal one and smaller armies to keep them from gaining too much power (loyalty malus)
- I also like to have small armies of cavalry only, and use them to cut off reinforcements, as the AI moves around loads of single unit stacks to reform an army. Since cavalry move faster they are great for harrassing deep into ennemy territory
