I understand The complaints but...
I like, most of you have though is this game worth it if it even isnt finised but I like how steam has started to support games that get a hard time on funding to design a game. This is probebly one of the best game concepts that has come out in awhile and even though its not even finished i would like to support this game being finished but buying it early and playing. I am going to give it a try and tell you all what I think and i hope you do to.

I want to support this, i really do, i just don't want to get burned on this.

- the game *can take years to be finished, chris has been working already 8 years on this supposidly

- the game *might not live up to it's potential

Anyhow i'm downloading the demo ATM, so i'll be able to give a more decent judgment soon.

No game is ever 100% on the money of what i could have been.
As far as years to finish, nah man. Hes getting more and more support and income now so he going to be able to hire more help.

95%.... comon.... :p
Wow seriously 8 years? And he cant even put placeholder sounds in? Wish I skipped on this. At this pace it could very well be another 8 years. This is the reasoning behind bringing in basic help. Great its being made by one guy, not so great when your asking people to pay for it. Time to use some of those funds to hire some part time help to do some of the basic work so he can concentrate on the bigger issues. Otherwise this game wont go far before people lose interest.

You know i didnt know about the 8 year thing but it is understandable when you start from srcatch. I mean the way games are made now if you dont have the fan base and the funding you will go bankrupt. There are so game companys that were pretty big have failed. So when some people make games without a big company its hard to get the resources you need to finish a game and i think steam has done something amazing to help give these games some spotlight that otherwise never would have been noticed and hopefully sice now more people getting this game will make them finnish it faster haha

I'm a little iffy about buying this game. I am aware that if more people buy the Alpha then the better it will turn out. I wouldn't be 100% sure about buying it though unless he promised something like mod/multiplayer support at X number of copies sold.

Edit: I also completely agree with OolongShadow, with the community hub and support from Steam this game will probably turn out well.

So far iv seen alot of bugs.. but this is stuff I can live with.. I am more suprised on how well this game is despite its early stages. The potential here is just insane mindblowing big.

I have owned this one for almost two years (since Alpha 0.2) and have never looked back once. If you are unsure, try the free demo. The only limitation there is level cap (skills don't go over level 20) and squad size (I think to remember, that you can only have 2 guys in the squad, instead of unlimited), all other features are exactly the same as in the full version.

do levels/skills translate from the demo to the full version, or are you starting from scratch if you decide to pick up the full version?

Ok so i tried the demo, short story:

At first i was like... kinda overwhelmed, didn't really knew what to do, anyhow me and my gang were running through the desert when we suddenly spotted a trade city/camp in the northern desert. After entering bars and shops i noticed i couldn't hire anybody or buy anything (i am poor soul) but it was nice to see another sign of civilization in this barren wasteland.

All of the sudden i saw these fiends at the southern foothill, who were wearing greenish armor and approaching the fort (apparantly they were bandits looking for some booty). Luckily for us the guards at the fort were OP and ♥♥♥♥♥ their asses. And thus we had freely acquired new armors, boots , hats, and better weapons for us all, all pillaged from these dead bandits. For some reason these OP guards weren't interested in looting them....

Being weary of these guards and the fort i decided to settle a small community at a nearby mountain (which we named mount doom), slowly building up our forces to take over the fort and make it our own.

to be continued

--------------------------

So in short, kinda buggy, kinda overwhelming at first, weird camera controls, but defintly has potential...

Oh and i constantly listened to this song while playing, it's awesome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsa052ZIwzk

I've never read anything from Chris about him saying he's been working on Kenshi for 8 years constantly. Provide a source before you spread false and misleading information.

Weird camera controls? It controls like any RTS I've played.

It feels kinda... laggy/glitchy? I don't know it's weird to explain.... not that is a big concern atm.

Don't believe everything you read without researching yourself. He has hired help, he has freelance artists working on art asets and plans on hiring others to help out with other things. I've never read anything about him developing this game for 8 years, only that he's had it as an idea and planned it for a long time.

Hmmm. It feels smooth for me. What settings did you toggle in the config?
