Where are the save files located?

I did some digging to answer your question. Strangely, game data isn't stored in a save file; it's stored in the registry, under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bossa Studios\Surgeon Simulator 2013. Here's an easy way to get the data into a file which you can transfer to another computer; perform these steps on the computer you're transferring from:

1. Open a command prompt by going to Start->Run or pressing WindowsKey+R and typing "cmd".
2. Copy in this command exactly as it is (you need to right-click and click "Paste" in the command prompt):
regedit /E ".\ss2013.reg" "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bossa Studios\Surgeon Simulator 2013\"
3. A file called ss2013.reg will be created in the current working directory, which is probably C:\Users\[username]. The current directory is shown to the left of where you type the command, before the > symbol.
4. You can take this file to another computer. You will likely need to install the game and run it at least once on the computer you transfer it to; after you have done so, double click the ss2013.reg file and click "yes" to the message box that comes up.

This should allow you to transfer your game progress to another computer. Enjoy :)

My new computer is a linux machine. So I dont think the forth step will help. So, second question. Where is is saved in Linux? Maybe you know, maybe you don't. Anyway, thanks for the effort.
Unfortunately, I haven't played the game on Linux (yet) so I don't know where it's stored. I'll venture a guess that it would probably be in a hidden folder in your home directory (like /home/user/.ss2013/ or something). Run the game on Linux and check if it creates a hidden folder (try ls -a). Report back with your findings :)

If it's stored in plain text, transferring your game progress should be a relatively simple matter of copying and pasting the relevant values from the .reg file into the appropriate places in the data file. For example, the reg file might have ""levelUnlocked_h3291890882"=dword:00000003", and the data file might have "levelUnlocked_h3291890882=0". It shouldn't be too hard to figure out what to do if that's the case. But that's a totally wild guess since I have no idea how it's stored on Linux. Anyway, good luck and tell me how it goes.
I posted a little guide on my blog on how to do it: http://www.fastquake.com/2013/05/surgeon-simulator-2013-save-location/

I still haven't investigated Linux though.
Nice!
I couldn't find it in Linux, maybe somone else?
On Linux it's in
~/.config/unity3d/Bossa Studios/Surgeon Simulator 2013

If anyone wants to find out how to reset the game progress, you can just delete Surgeon Simulator 2013 from the registry. That, however, will also reset the resolution and graphics and controls.

Hey guys, recently transferred from Mac to PC, importing my save files over (.data), any idea how to shove them in the registry? (Win 7) Thanks.
You're a life saver! Thanks a lot! (oh and btw, the ss2013.reg appeared in C:\Windows\system32 for some reason, but I found it and I'm very happy that I can use my old saves on my new windows installation
With the release of the new Anniversary Edition content, will this method also backup the game data for the new surgeries too? Thanks :beatmeat:
This isn't working for me. When I copy the command in it says that its not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. I copy and pasted it exactly as shown. Can someone help me please?
gente eu não achei nada, esse caminho HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Bossa Studios\Surgeon Simulator 2013. não existe no meu pc
