How do I get a refund?
The games genre is never stated, It's not a strategy action rpg, it's a rogue-like. Once you die your character is done, You can't save at points and load, or start from the beginning of the level you die at.

I do not appreciate being defrauded.

Who says rogue-likes cant be strategy action rpgs? And before you throw big words like fraud around, how about being respobsible for your own actions and for an example watch lets plays or WTF is series on youtube before you invest huge amounts of money.

On steam since 2010 - buys a game based on the category on steam... facepalm :o

You would need to contact Steam support and ask. I would suggest to not use the term "fraud" when you ask, because it gives a needlessly hostile and aggressive vibe -- and you are asking for a favor, so you want to avoid that.

However, there is no separate category for roguelikes, and roguelikes absolutely do fall in the categories you listed. You need strategy to make it through, there is action (combat), and it is of course a sci-fi RPG. All dungeon crawlers meet these expectations.

The game is saved whenever you quit your session. Yes, there is perma death, as in every serious roguelike. It would probably be a good idea to add a softcore mode for the more mainstream audience.

Might want to go back and reread the description, it clearly states that is is a rogue-like game.

Next time put your big boy pants on and do some research before you buy a game, all the information you needed was out there had you thought to take responsibility for your own actions and google it.

Sword of the Stars: The Pit is a fun, fast, light-hearted turn-based RPG, where the tradition of Rogue and other old school dungeon-diving games meets the sci-fi Sword of the Stars universe, where the question to ask isn't "Did you make it to the end?" so much as "How far did you make it into The Pit before the monsters got you?"
Reading is fun!

Then why buy the game if you didn't have any idea what it was?

Might want to research a game before you blindly buy or preorder it... Just saying.

Did you not see the massive ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ images at the top of the page? The ones that clearly show the game... or the big wall of text describing the game? Or did you just think "SWORD OF THE ST..... I'M ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BUYING IT!" Whilst you're asking Steam support for your refund for the game give your school a ring, maybe they could throw you some tax back for providing a faulty service.
