Any way to play this with a steering wheel?
Been playin' this game for a while with KB/M and had a blast throughout with it. Just got Logitech G29 wheel (with shifter) recently and was jus' wondering if there's some practical way to play with it. Note that I'm jus' lookin' for a fun experience, not really goin' for the leaderboards and all.

It should just detect it if it's plugged in.
OP, I'm going to advise AGAINST using a wheel for this game, even if you're not going for leaderboards. The nature of the game as more of a platformer than a racer means that the controls for a wheel really don't match up well to the gameplay.

Honestly, just don't. Save yourself the pain.

Yeah, there's quite a lot of jumping, flipping, and flying in this game as well as driving. A steering wheel with no other quick intuitive controls (you need to react on a second by second basis) would be more problematic than helpful.
Honestly, if you're going to use a wheel, set up a flight stick right next to it. Refract used a flight stick as part of their earlier concepts for a Distance arcade-style cabinet, but they removed it before they finalized the design.

Why, I have no idea. The game just doesn't WORK with a wheel.

I use a wheel but I also play it in V.R. Way more fun! But I'm also not competitive. Just play like that for more immersion.

This is exactly what I'm talkin' about too! I wanted to know if there's a wheel setup that's just a hella lotta fun, not for goin' after some diamonds or LBs.

I'm going to tell you again that if you want to use a wheel for this game, set up a flight stick to go with. This game is NOT designed for steering wheels.
I have nothing to add.

Just wanted to say I enjoyed reading this thread :) Thank you for the productive dialogue. Interesting insights everyone.

I play on a logitech g29 with the pedals. its pretty much plug and play. The game will recognize you have one plugged in and it seems they have a pre-mapped set up. But seriously play this in VR It is so much more fun!

on a side note; I do wonder if I can get a hotas to work on this game just to :P

Very likely. As long as something shows up in the devices dropdown of the controls menu when you have it plugged in, then you can add bindings for it. Just keep in-mind the bindings are per-device; device dropdown is just to select which device you want to set up bindings for, but the game uses all detected devices simultaneously as long as the scheme for that device isn't set to disabled.

I bet it would be awesome with one of those commercial flight style controllers paired with driving game pedals.

I played for a while with this. [external-content.duckduckgo.com]

It has a dpad and paddles on the back so the game was very playable, just needed to make sure I had logitech software installed so that the sensitivity was usable.
If you don't have additional buttons... good luck.

The D-Pad and paddles do sound like good mapping options...may I know what you mapped each of those to? I have nearly the same buttons on mine.
