also don't play with Staff Needs. You can enable them later once stuff actually starts running well
Summary:
I have about 200 Workers and maybe 100 additonal staff. My prison have never been open for intake and it has been building for several in game years. I have staff needs enabled. Remember that staff also need a toilet in the staff room because they have "bladder" need. Theeasiest way to approch this is to resarch buracracy tech so you can see staff needs. Then just check what their problem is and solve it. I never ran into any problem with staff being to tired and as i said before i´m setting up a huge infrastructure before i´m going to let my prisons in.
And some of you maybe wondering about how i sustain my prison economy? Well I use a mix of selling green energy from the solar/wind panels (I have invested in a major oversupply) and then the biggest caschcow and albeit a little cheesy is the forage areas. If you have enough forage area and workers to handle it than its just amazing. Of course you need to plan your infrastructure so production doesn´t get booged down with trucks wanting to sell the tree logs. You do this by zooning your delivery zone at the top so the trucks deliver their materials and are empty. They will then move down to the export and garbage area and pick up export goods and garbage in their newly emptied trucks. One KEY component to this is to make the zooning are stretch so far that it can support atleast 3-4 trucks in one go. If you have a 1000+ prisoner prison than maybe atleast 5 is what you should aim for.
Remember that you can build helipads to support some deliveries deeper inside your prison. Just remember to build up all neccesary safety procedures so you don´t get an influx of unchecked contrabands from the helipad stations.
