Far Cry® 3 Blood Dragon

Far Cry® 3 Blood Dragon

"There is a problem connecting to a Uplay Service". Can't register; can't play.
three days ago, i purchased blood dragon. two days ago, i tried to launch blood dragon, but had a plethora of problems with Uplay ranging from not being able to login, not being able to updated, to not being able to connect to the servers. these issues led me to countless uninstallations and installations on multiple harddrives, forwarding ports and editing the host file, all to no avail. this led me to believe that this was something on their end.
but still, three days later, i receive the error "There is a problem connecting to a Uplay Service. We'll restore the connection as soon as we can". soon is not soon enough, i was brought up on the humble ideal that something that you pay money for should be immediately accessible to the consumer, but apparently Ubisoft's a little rusty in the business department.
does anyone know what i can do to play my game?

I have the same problem.

Guys, posting "Same here" won't help anyone. Let's discuss the actual problem, shall we?
1. Did anyone of you actually ask the Ubisoft support?
2. Steam's having a huge sale->most likely the Ubi servers are temporary overwhelmed.
NEUROPUNK Jul 18, 2013 @ 6:16pm
i've been having this issue for 5 days, i highly doubt it's a temporary outage. they've already addressed that a number of users are experiencing this error, and that they're working on it. regardless, i'm hoping someone has some sort of work around.

Someone indeed has, the workaround is in this forum.
I tested it out earlier, and I was able to not only launch UPlay, but the actual game as well without any problems (at least not yet)

you're part of the majority then. i can' even log in anymore, getting the error "A Ubisoft service is not available at the moment. You can try again later or switch to offline mode".

you also have to take into account of the GPU your PC uses. my new GTX660 card maxes this game out rather easily (as well as my other games), so it should have the same smooth gameplay for "Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon". However, I did validate the game's cache files to take care of the 50 missing files as a bit of a pre-caution. Especially after reading several posts on here, on how a few players had trouble running the game because of it.

Now I reinstalled my PC over the last two days, Steam is working fine, Origin as well and now uplay will not let me connect at all, how sad and no info that their webpage/servers are down, a disgrace and I sincerely hope " STEAM " is taking action on our behalf fast please.

"There is a problem connecting to a Uplay Service".

all my games are working just none of the uplay stuff!!

Any ideas please ??????

It seems this issue is not related to the keys, they are active on your account but Uplay does not seem to be connecting to the servers correctly. If you are still experiencing this issue, please follow these instructions to help improve your connectivity:

1. Start by updating any anti-virus or personal firewall software that may be installed to your computer system. This includes your windows firewall as well as updating the firmware for your home router. If updating these programs does not resolve the issue, you may need to temporarily shut-down the associated program or bypass the router and establish a direct connection to your modem.

2. If it is not possible to shut-down your firewall, you will need to configure your router or firewall to allow the following ports for the best possible connection:

[TCP & UDP] 3074, 80, 443, 24650, 24659

[TCP] 13000, 13005, 13200-13999

Directions for configuring network ports are specific to the software and hardware being used, and can be found by visiting the manufacturers website.

3. You may also encounter problems due to applications running in the background on your computer system. When playing Ubisoft games, please be sure to close all running background applications. You can find the steps for this listed below.

- Open your start menu and look for Run (Win XP), Start search (Win Vista), or Search programs and files (Win 7)
- Delete anything on the Open line that you'll find there, and type in the word MSCONFIG and press the Enter key to bring up the system configuration utility
- Look down the list of startup items (not the tab labeled Startup), and choose Selective Startup (if it is not already selected) (If you don't see this, make sure you've clicked on General, near the top of the window)
- Once you've chosen Selective Startup, uncheck 'Load Startup Items'
- Once you're done here, click Apply & OK, and let it reboot your computer

Try again. If it works, the problem is most likely related to one or more programs you have scheduled to load with Windows. You can then revert the settings back the way they were, and in a trial and error fashion, disable some programs using the startup tab (in the msconfig utility) to try to find the culprit.

*Keep in mind that this is a temporary solution and any changes can be reverted by returning to the MSCONFIG utility and re-selecting 'Normal Startup"

4. There may also be certain restrictions set by your ISP. If you continue to have trouble, please contact your ISP for details on any specific restrictions on the previously mentioned network ports.

5. Try cleaning your HOSTS file by clicking on the Fix it button on the article found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034

Right, so unless we're all running the *exact* same troublesome background applications/have the same firewall and anti-virus/having the same router issues, I don't think the problem is really at our end... Especially as I'm getting this issue in every single ubisoft game I own

It is working now, just keep on emailing support and pass on any files they request including your direct x reports for 32 and 64 bit. It took them nearly 4 days but all is working fine now. They are a pain in the a#s#, but the final result is positive.
Log into this page https://support.ubi.com/en-gb/ and you get all the help you need. It certainly helped me and all my kids are happy again.

i was having a problem with all that stuff, what got mine to work was checking my settings on Uplay and un-checking the "Use proxy to connect to the internet" in settings. works like a charm now
